So my beloved 305 I think is finally in need of replacement. Two workouts in the rain have left it completely waterlogged.  since I don't plan on avoiding workouts b/c of the rain, I need something that is waterproof.

I don't see a real need to getting a 910, other than its newer.  The 310 would be good enough for my needs. I don't care to map my swims or use the pool function of the 910.  Only worried about the longevity factor.

So what say you, since many of you have (or had) both? Is there another reason for me to get the 910? or, I could just take a 310 off your hands if you're itching to get new technology.

I'd get the 910xt.  It is a little smaller and works very well.  I didn't think I'd need the pool/swim features, but they are very nice additions to have.  Plus you are getting updated technology which is never a bad thing.

Not sure on the price difference, but as a bike geek... I'll point out something people overlook: the 910xt has a barometric altimeter

You can buy the 310xt, for about $200, or the 910xt for $400...if you don't need the extra features, why pay double?  Plus if you ever decide to upgrade, you can always sell the 310 for a VERY small loss, and pick up the 910.

One thing to consider is how it feels on your wrist.  I have not tried the 310xt, but the 305 was huge and felt huge.  The 910xt is huge but does not feel huge.  I have small wrists and I find the 910xt fairly comfortable on my wrist.  Just another thing to think about.

Ah still tough for me! I'm worried about all the software issues. How about that?

I've had a very positive experience with the 910xt.  The swim features are truly great.  No longer have to try to remember what lap I'm on.  The stroke data, efficiency calculations, etc. are all very neat.  I'd say a majority of the capabilities of the 310 or 910 are not must haves - but definitely nice to haves.  if you can afford the 910 I don't think there is a question that its the better watch.

Keep in mind you will hear from the folks with issues more then you will hear from those who are happy.  I have no software issues.

I've had my 910 for a week. LOVE IT!

With the easy multi function support I plan on wearing it the entire race at Galveston this weekend.

So to piggy back because I am trying to figure out what to get between the 310 and 910

... What is the deal with run pace???

What changed, how is the 310 and how is the 910???

I just ask because I have the 305. I go by pace with only "some" smoothing. That way it does not jusm around much, but I do think I get a good indication of what I am doing in real time. I nver doubted it because average or overall pace is in line.

But I heard about the 910 instant pacing being different and you don't get instant pace. Is the 310 the same as the 305 in that respect?
