Its amazing how much of the book they can cover in an hour episode. I like the series, but I also just wish there was more of it.

Excellent start to the season.  I bought HBO a few days ago just for this (but, as an aside, am REALLY digging the HBO to Go app).

I thought the depiction of Melissandre was really good.  Davos seemed a little older than I depicted him in my mind.

The handling of the extermination of King Robert's illegitimate children was also really well done.

I would have liked to seem more Arya, but I know it's coming.  I'm also really looking forward to seeing Brienne.

I was also really waiting to see Brienne!! It is funny after reading all the books how differently I look at all of the charters at this point in time. I thought Davos looked a tiny bit old but he is much whiter then I pictured him. I really hope they capture his charter correctly because I really liked him in the books.

I didn't think they nailed it with Davos either. I pictured a leaner, more weathered man. And he never grasped at his finger bones around his neck once! I'm about 350 pages into A Dance with Dragons now, so its tough to look back on it knowing what I know now. The Red Wedding is in this book right? Or is that next season?

There's some stuff I don't recall from the book, like the purging of the bastard children.   Maybe I slept thru that part of the book

My wife didn't read the books, and hasn't seen it since last season so i am trying to keep her up to date with all the storylines, this is definitely not a show you can just jump in to.

Ok, not intending to spoil, I just can't remember exactly what occurred in each book. I need to go Wiki them to see the differences. I think book 5 is way better than 4 though. I really struggled to make it through 4 (which I read several others did too). But 5 has been great so far!

Me too, especially the meeting between Asha and Theon.  Thought that was hilarious

Finally got a chance to catch the season opener.

Davos is ok, I agree he could look a little more like a smuggler. The actor seemed to do a good job, so I can get over it.

Stannis doesn't look right, but Robert and Renly were/are even further from what they should look like. Guess it is hard to cast a Baratheon.

Melisandre is just about spot on.

Favorite scene was probably Robb (and Grey Wind) with Jaime.

When I read all the books, everytime Bran and Hodar  appeared,  any command or talk toward Hodar would end up with him resaying his name. "Hodar"

So I was suprised in the Bran scene in episode 11 that they didn't have him say Hodar.

I can't wait to see the women of Dorne.  Although that might be another season.

DUDE! Stay away from that spoiler. That is storm of swords, likely season 4 since SOS will have to be 2 seasons..... I am watching. Lots of stuff crammed into the first episode. Some unnecessary changes, like the tourney for joffreys name day (where the hound did not fit because it was a bunch of hacks as all the real knights were at war). Still very good. Great trainer fodder. Plus we have mad men too!

Yes, the politics of Mereen are quite compelling Kid who plays Joffrey is amazingly good.

Episode 2 was pretty good - I just wish they'd stop with the unnecessary sex scences. Also, there were a few changes from the book that were not necessary and Yara (asha) is not nearly attractive enough. She's more like Keira knightly in pirate of the caribearan 2, at least in my mind. Also not sure why they pawned the murder of Roberts bastards on Joffrey, that was all fee either in the book. Oh well. Next week we meet Margery and brienne.

1. It's HBO so they do add something 2. The books did have a dood deal of sex or nude people 3. I like it

Dont get me wrong:  naked chicks are always good the littlefinger brothel scene just wasnt any good.  The Mel-Stanis scene is necessary as the connotations of sex are there in the book and its hard to connote on TV.  The Theon-captains daughter is true to the book, just unnecessarily long.

The actor playing Balon Greyjoy is spot on, as it the glimpse of the Damphair.

I was looking for Damphair b/c in the book he talks to Theon on the docks right? I totally missed him. I liked Sallador, although I pictured him to be a bigger guy.

They didn't show the scene where he went into the tavern or whatever it was so we didn't get to see Damphair yet.  I too thought Yara as much more attractive and for some reason I thought of her with darker hair but for all the stuff she has to do later on in the story it’s better to have a good actress.

So far the actor that plays Gendry is good but I thought of him as being taller in the book but again the better actor is probably better.

Alot of differences in episode 2 as compared to the book.  Some good.... glad they are not using the Jester guy in Stannis's kingdom.

Jon Snow following Craster in the North was a big change of story line.  Understand that HBO has to cram alot of storylines into 10 episodes.  So some literary license is used.

Asha was ok, but have a different vision of her.   Hope they stay away form the Damphair storyline, great for extra chapters in the book but nothing gain for a tv series.

i thought that was a really bad change - Jon following craster and then craster bonking him on the head as he sees the Other carry the baby away?  Dont understand why they did that.
