Master 2500 Crab Cake City | Subject: RE: Baltimore Marathon : Official Thread I am in this year for the Half, it will be my 3rd half marathon in 1 year. I havent done it before but plenty of folks I know have. Be prepared for hills is all I was told. Well run race, fairly large and great swag and atmosphere from what I have heard and seen as a spectator living in the city. |

I did it in 03. I think it was the second year. I should win some type of award for that. :-) |

Tell me about the course last year, I hear they have changed it through the years and its not quite as hilly any more. |

Tell me about the course last year, I hear they have changed it through the years and its not quite as hilly any more. They had changed it some, but overall it wasn't very different. I'd say 24 to 25 miles of the course were the same. There was some new parts in the zoo, but they cut the part going out to fort mchenry and back, mainly due to construction i think. The hills were definitely still there - i think they were just pushed back a half mile or so. Baltimore is a great marathon, which is one of the other reasons I've done it so many times (the other being local). As an example, I've only done MCM once and it's about the same distance. The crowds are fun and its a good course, but it's definitely not an easy course. |

Member 71 Bel Air | Subject: RE: Baltimore Marathon : Official Thread I love this course, especially being from Baltimore. Great volunteer staff and aid stations every single mile. I've done the full the past 3 years, but am just doing the half this year as a training run for the Philly Marathon in hopes of qualifying for Boston. (Tried the past 2 years at Baltimore but missed it by a minute each year). The hills definitely get you in the back half of the course, especially if there's a headwind. Good luck! |

I've never done Balmer before... it always seems to conflict with something on my schedule. It is on my list though. |

Extreme Veteran 622 Fulton | Subject: RE: Baltimore Marathon : Official Thread It's race week! Who is still in? I'm just doing the half, but am excited and hope to have a good first race (over 5k) post-baby. I was surprised during training how well I've come back, considering the injuries I had going into pregnancy. Send good thoughts to J to be well enough to run the full, as scheduled! |

Member 49 | Subject: RE: Baltimore Marathon : Official Thread This will be my first half marathon race and first time back to Baltimore in over 7 years. Really looking forward to it! My goal when I signed up back in late August was to come in under 1:45. My last long distance training run (12.2 miles) was 1:22 so I think I'm in good shape. Been running hill repeats to prepare for the supposedly hilly course. I live in Pittsburgh though so the hills might not actually be any worse! |

Expert 4598 Middle River, Maryland | Subject: RE: Baltimore Marathon : Official Thread I've done it four times '07-'10. Have had problems running since then so won't be in it this year (hopefully next year!!). Since I live a half block from the HM course, I guess I'll be out there cheering (look for me on Eastern Avenue near the Ukrainian church - I'll be the one in jeans with a light jacket drinking Starbucks...oh, wait, that's everyone in Canton on a Saturday). Looks like great running weather - good luck everyone!!! |

I'll be the one running by in a black skirt with a ponytail...oh, and shoes. Obviously you'll have no trouble spotting me. ;-) Seriously, thanks for coming out to cheer. I spotted another BTer and her dog out cheering a couple of years ago. I didn't know she was going to be there, so we were both surprised. |

Expert 4598 Middle River, Maryland | Subject: RE: Baltimore Marathon : Official Thread It was an awesome day as a spectator, too. I have about 50 pics to post at some point soon, but the scene of 1,000 runners coming down Eastern Avenue for the HM on a perfect morning was surreal. Especially the mustard and ketchup bottles. I watched the marathon leaders coming up from Canton Square to Patterson Park. Not only are they faster than you could possibly imagine running a distance, but they're also bigger than I thought. Tall, lean, all leg muscles. Let's get those BT RR's up...I gotta run vicariously!!! BTW...I was the one cheering today with his wife and daughter, I'm sure you couldn't miss me. |

Down O'Donnell Street (didn't turn out as well as I would have liked, but that's my daughter's school on the right )...
And just in case you were wondering...our flag is STILL there!!! (that's a view from Potomac Street and Boston Street) and let's not forget the Half Marathon... |

Member 49 | Subject: RE: Baltimore Marathon : Official Thread This race was great. I got a 1:33:19 for my first half which I'm VERY happy with. The course was great and the city support was unbelievable. Running down that final stretch was like nothing I've ever done before. Will definitely want to do this race again in the future! -Sam |

Master 1572 Baltimore | Subject: RE: Baltimore Marathon : Official Thread jmhpsu93 - 2012-10-11 4:24 PM Patterson Perk is practically your neighbor and you drink starbarf that's a mile away??? For shame. I'm down the street from you, a few houses over from Sharkey's. Oh, and well, I don't really post anymore but I did the relay third leg. Longest run I've done since April 2011, so a success I'd say I've done it four times '07-'10. Have had problems running since then so won't be in it this year (hopefully next year!!). And we love Sharkey's...well, for lunch anyway. Not sure if I'd want to be there at night. Awesome that you're running again...I'm hopefully headed that direction again myself. |

Master 1572 Baltimore | Subject: RE: Baltimore Marathon : Official Thread Ha, fair enough. I've only been there a few times, my wife and I like to walk down weekend mornings, but it's never been all that early. Their baked stuff is really good though if you ever make it in. Good luck getting started running again as well! |
