I'm contemplating if I just bite the bullet and register now (and pray for a great season w/ no injuries). Or if I at least wait until August. BTW... good luck to all those running CCC this weekend, hope you can ditch the snorkle to breath by then! |

BTW... good luck to all those running CCC this weekend, hope you can ditch the snorkle to breath by then! I did the BR Beach as my first mary last year and did not register until right before the last price increase (can't recall exact date) but there was no problem with selling out. There were only a couple of hundred people that did the full anyway. The vast majority of participants did the half and boy did the roads clear out for the second loop of the course. Good luck with your training and stay healthy. Running through campus also meant a lot to me too and I am glad that I chose this race as my first full mary. The food afterwards is really good and nothing like a good cold beer after either. |

Member 79![]() ![]() ![]() Baton Rouge | Subject: RE: BR Beach Marathon?I've done the BR Beach half for the past 4 years, neither the half nor the full ever sell out, especially the full. You'll be safe waiting. The LA Marathon was my first full, definitely worth considering. You still get all the joys of campus (not twice of course) with some extra views you don't get at BR Beach, but I can understand your desire to train earlier to avoid the holidays. Best of Luck. |

I'm not too thrilled with covering the same territory twice, but it was thoroughly depressing to have what seemed like 90% of the participants peel off at the halfway mark. |

The first loop I'll run w/ the masses and enjoy the scenery, the second loop I'm going to run w/ my memories... and oh the memories there are In case your interested... here's my race dialog.. The first part of the run takes me through childhood to college memories of tailgating along Nicholson (and the mad dashes to NorthGate liquor to refill the keg - that should be easy mental); then the turn to run past my college career and the buildings that hold all so many more memories (NGraham (I know torn down, but I'll still see it Just know that when you see me crying during the race and at the finish line, I'm not in pain... I'm just sad b/c sometimes I miss those days the memories they hold. |

I did the half last year and will most likely be doing the half or full again this year. I won't be registering until at least Sept-Oct. Last year I don't think I registered until Oct-Nov, not until I had bought my plane ticket. I don't mind a lonely race as long as there are water stops. But yes, most people do the half. |
