Was thinking about signing up for this.  It's in Deptford on April 29th.  It's only a 200m pool swim, 10.3 mile bike, and 5k run.  Just wondering if anyone on BT has done this last year and had any comments/reviews.

I raced in a few times and enjoyed the race. Well run and a flat course.

Is transition in this race like regular transition?  I've never done a pool race in a tri.

Yes its a regular transition. You snake around the pool and the out the door to transition. all in all its a good race.

I'm going to give it a shot this year, I just hope the temps stay warmer in the morning.   I wonder how honestly people will seed themselves for the swim.   I can imagine a congo line snaking around the pool.

The 2 years I did it people seemed to be pretty spot on with their seeding. The starter calls people to a lane when its your time so you step over a mat, jump in and go.

The site says a 200m swim, and any research I'm seeing says that the pool is a 200 yd pool.  So, is it meters or yards?  If it's yards, we're only talking about 4 laps, 8 lengths.  Not very long.

The pool is 25M and yes its a short swim. First year it was 450 but it took forever for them to get everyone through the swim and out onto the bike course so too spread out. The one draw back to an inside swim.

Yeah, I did this last year and am in again for this year.  I was pretty nervous about the pool swim having never done one, but I thought it ran pretty smoothly.  A person in the pool every 10 or 15 seconds.  8 lengths.

It was just super windy last year, which made me chew on those miles on the bike.  A huge storm blew threw the night before, and they had to re-route the bike course.

The temps weren't bad, but the wind made it worse.  It is a bit chilly coming out of that pool, which feels like 90 degrees and then the air temp, which last year, was probably in the mid 50's.

Overall, a nice event, well run.  It's a nice short season opener.

Looks like the weather isn't going to cooperate Sunday.  I'm just hoping that is is over 50 by the time I get on the bike.

Yeah, looks like it's going to be in the 40s Sunday morning.  Thinking of doing the duathlon instead but that's still colder than I've ever run outside or biked outside for that matter.  I have a strict 'no-outside-workout' policy if it's under 60 degrees.  Call me a wimp, but I don't like the cold.  I thrive in the heat.

If you're in the 30-34 age group, you should probably play it safe and do the duathlon......

My daughter and I picked up our race packets last night. This will be her first tri and she's 11. Unfortunately, she's been having growing pains and plans to walk the run. I'm a little under the weather, probably going to ride my road bike instead of opening the season on the tri bike.

Good luck.  Too cold for me.  Hope your daughter enjoys it.  Might go spectate - never actually just watched a race live.

It ended up being a really nice day.  A little chilly on the bike, but I don't think as bad as last year.

Good times.

I couldn't help myself, and I drove by to watch a little bit.  Made me regret not doing it.  I've signed up for the Bassman Sprint Duathlon this Sunday b/c the Riverwinds put me in the mood, and I'm going through withdrawal.
