There's a distance for everyone this year at Running Fit's Trail Marathon on the Potawatomi trail in Pinckney, MI with 5 mile, half-marathon, marathon, and 50k races over the course of the weekend. It's April 28 - 29 and does sell out if you're on the fence.

Who is IN for some dirt and hills, rocks and roots, grit in your teeth kind of fun?

I'm doing the 50k, and I know there's at least one BTer doing the HM + 50k on this weekend of fun...

This is a great event and I love running those trails, but a busy April prevents it.  Good luck you guys and girls who do it.  50K sounds impressive, but HM and 50K sounds worse.....I meant tougher.

On a side note I grubbed it on the poto yesterday.  Got a really nice set of trail rashes on my shin and back/shoulder to match.  I guess looking for the easter bunny while running trails isn't always a great idea.

The Poto lives on the flesh and blood of those who run and ride its trails.  I've made several donations as well.  The monster must be fed

In for the 1/2 again this year.  Loving that they switched up the schedule to have the 1/2 on Saturday.

I ran the 13.1 yesterday.  Everything looks really green out there.  Weather looks nice and cool for this coming weekend.  Good luck everyone should be a good weekend for a long run.  Have fun.

Nice forecast for tomorrow (yuck).  I typically look like the trail running equivalent  Urkel.  A couple extra layers due to the cold should have me looking extra dorkey.

See y'all tomorrow!

Weather was perfect, actually.  Trail is a bit more sandy in parts compared to the last few years, but is otherwise in great shape.  Ran my 2nd fastest one I've run of the four and got beat by everyone I know, including Ranger who is running the Ultra tomorrow!  I am going to sound like a bit of a trail snob, moving the 1/2 to its own day opened this up to quite a few rookies.  This would have been fine, but there was very little trail etiquette.  Not only was there an overall lack of "on your left", people were running over people early on.  And, I saw way more spills than ever out there.  Rant over.  I love Potto.  Each year (and really every trail race) I feel like a kid like no other training and racing makes me feel.  Like was mentioned, it is super green out there.  And, for the first time I can recall, lilacs are in bloom and there is a section, as I recall, around the 6th mile that smelled awesome.  Got my first purple toe out of the way for the season and am going to reward myself with a Little Tony's Bleu Cheese Bacon Burger this evening.  Great day!!

Good luck and have fun all that are doing the full and Ultra tomorrow!!!!

Glad you had a such a great race out on the trails, or as I think of them, the playground.    Looking forward to the lilac scents tomorrow.  Enjoy that bleu cheese bacon burger.  Mmmm

Sounds like the issue stems from a combination of poor trail etiquette and people not seeding themselves correctly at the start.

Some of the seeding & etiquette issues falls on Randy IMO (and I am a huge Running Fit and Randy fan).  Moving the 1/2 to its own day meant about 400 more runners as compared to when the cap was for the combo of the 1/2 and the full.  If I looked at the list right, there were 1,003 runners.  Randy did his typical laid back approach to the start, but probably should have stressed the difficulty and its impact on pace and some of the rules of the trail (now I am just sounding like a grumpy old man).

15 minutes slower than last year. It would help if I trained regularly . Went throught the 1st half in less than an hour but started to get tunnel vision and the wheels fell off at 10 miles. The seeding seemed fine where I was. I saw no falls, a few people burned out in 1st couple miles but nothing major.

Great running to everyone out there today!  We had perfect trail and weather conditions for a race.

Shameless brag here, but I set a 50k PR by ~10 minutes and finished 4th Overall and 1st in my AG with a 4:11:XX.  Love running trails!

I thought the same thing last year when people were just passing and pushing in the beggining.  I can't imagine being on that trail with 1002 other people.  It is great out there congrats on the great races everyone.

Despite not really training for this race, and just signing up last week, I did place third in my age group in the marathon yesterday, running a very conservative 4:36:xx.

I don't run trails often here in Mid Michigan, and we have zero hills, so the trail and hill combo was a new and challenging experience for me.
