I know this a weird question on a Triathlon forum...BUT

I'm getting sick of dealing with my hair during training.  I'm wondering if it would be easier if I cut it shorter?  I.E. less dry time after showers for early morning/lunch training,  easier to deal with on race day?  Any suggestions?

I have posted a few pics that correspond with the poll choices.

If you're choosing your hairstyle based on training and not going really (boy) short, I'd keep it long enough to pull back, or at least secure back somehow. Might mean some choppy layers in the front are out.

I say this b/c I have long (ponytail) length hair & I got some longish bangs cut...man, I was happy when those grew out. I was screwed if I didn't have a clippy barrette with me - the short hairs would just fall down in my eyes.

Hmmm...just thought a little more. You could probably do layers in the front if you had a good hat for running.

Anyway...good luck!!! Hair decisions are tough.

I keep mine about shoulder length-or right above the shoulders. This still allows for some light layers and framing around the face and long enough to be pulled back. If you go shorter (I wouldn't go shorter than the chin) then you can do 2 small pig tails to keep your hair up. Shorter than that and its hard to keep out of your face.

I had LONG and THICK hair until I started masters swimming.  I cut about 7 inces off and asked the women to "thin" it out.  It was just above shoulder length after my cut.  I LOVED IT.  It fits quickly and easily under my swim cap.....swim cap comes off more easily now.  The bike helmet fits better.....it is long enough to fit into a pony tail, but because I have a lot of layers the little pieces fall out.  It only bothers me when I run so I wear a running hat...which I like anyways.  I'm cooler, more comfortable, and I got a cut so it can air dry and still look pretty good! I say, CUT IT.

I cut my long hair to be right above my shoulders.  It's been great.  But, I first made the mistake of getting the short layers around my face.  What a pain!  When you run, you have to pin them back because the little pieces of hair are always flying in your face.  Yuck.  Make sure the shortest pieces are long enough to be pulled back.

I'm just a little biased to shaving it.  But that's just me   having short/shaved head is soo incredibly easy, and not to mention it's much cooler   I say go for it!

After looking at your pictures, you defintiely have the face to show off with a short hair do!  You'll look great regardless of what you do!

Your hair is cute short. I say #2 (like you had it) or #5.  Tell you hair dresser you still want to pull it back for training, and they can cut the layers so your long layers hold your short layers in. Just cut it. It will always grow again!

FWIW I do the 2 pigtails thing and it works fine, as long as I don't mind looking like an 8-year-old at best or Sporty Spice at worst whenever I work out. Currently my hair is a short angled bob, shaved at the back of my neck and jaw-length in the front, which means that the rest of the time I look like an adult. Our face shape is pretty similar - oval, so anything works. Have fun!

Bald! Buzz that bad boy!

Think of all the money you'll save!
New clippers: $15 one time vs. $30-40 at least once a month
Also, the shampoo and other hair care products women buy. GONE! No more!!!
Never mind no more worry about:
How to wear it today
How it looks in bad weather
Getting it spruced up for dates / occasions
Having a clip / ponytail thingy / rubber band to put in
If you wake up late and can't shower, everyone will know

I've gone the high and tight / buzz for almost 12 years now, and I'm never going back.

I thought this was going to be about a new hairstyle for Runnergirl.

She was sporting a sweet mohawk on Friday, but I gotta admit couldn't quite pull it off with the preppy clothes.

If I had loaned her a t-shirt, maybe...and some punk attitude.

I was also missing my skateboard.  If I had it I would have been able to pull it off.

Probab;y any of those styles you will still have to do something with it.  Mine is about shoulder length or a little shorter.  I french braid it for races and that works fantastic.

I voted for shorter hair, #4.  Guys always say that they love long hair, but they're not the ones who have to comb, condition, and always have ponytail holders on their wrists at the ready for it.

Get a cut that makes you happy, and ignore the flack you get from guys who think that longer is better.

(Mine is about mid-arm's length, and yet I always have it in a bun or ponytail for racing/training -- I'm sooooo close to chopping it to just above shoulder length!)

Bald is in baby.  But you're better off with a buzz, because total baldness is higher maintenance.  Just like shaving your legs.  If I could afford a total body total hair removal I'd do it in a heart beat.  Hair is just wrong!

I started off with a pony tail and goatee.  Sucked putting a swim cap on long hair....Plus my hair is receeding.   Now it's just ultra short all around.

BLASPHEMER!!!

When I'm King of the Universe there will be a rule that a woman's hair must be longer than her skirt.

I was looking for the razor option.  It's very easy to put under a swim cap that way.

I have a shorter style and I put my hair in pigtails when I'm working out. I think they look really cute. Bandannas work wonders tool. I opted for a style that was easy to take care of and that could be air-dryed and still look good. I love my short hair so I say go short. You'll look great.

get it cut, I did about a year ago when I decided to do tris. It is wonderful to just jump out of the shower and towel dry and off I go. No worries about hair dryers and blar blar blar. I also had about 7" cut, and I love it. I can still get it in a small pony under my swim cap if I want, but you don`t need to if your hair is short enough. Hair grows back, don`t let your 'hair' rule your lifestyle. I like all the pic`s, go with hubbies #!
