I exercise racehorses.  This photo will give you the gist of it.  Great for practicing aero position!

Oh, btw, Jcookie did you do the Shelbyville tri series?  I see you're in Louisville and your name's familiar!

I am an Emergency Medicine Physician and medical director for multiple ERs. This does alow me the money to play, but the time is the hard part. 15-17 twelve hour shifts a month and multiple admin meetings makes training time tuff, but family is very helpful.

I  am a Certified College Advisor.  I help parents afford college.  There are some really exciting programs out there today that most parents don't know about that cost little or nothing!  It can be very gratifying to have a meeting with a parent and leave that meeting knowing I just got them $10,000 for college.  I just wish I had found these years ago before I sent my kids off to college & one to law school.

Anyone have kids looking for a small liberal arts university? I am an admissions counselor at a small private university in northwest Ohio. Travel season is interesting in the fall on training as I am gone for 10 weeks straight without my bike or a decent pool... Love meeting kids though and telling them about the possibilities of an education though!

I posted earlier and travel wreaks havoc on all of my good training!  I did Insanity this fall with mostly running which was great.  I travel significantly in the spring as well, but often an am able to bring my bike.

Have you looked into swimmersguide.com?  Super helpful for finding pools on travel.

I'm a Stay at Home Mom to a 5 year old and a 3 year old, so I stay busy!  Past life = Recreation Therapst.  Finding time to work out is tough b/c of my husband's schedule and the kid's needs not yet being of school age, so thank goodness for child centers in fitness centers or I'd have to have put off Triathlon for a few more years (still pretty much a newbie, in my second season).  I limit my participation to Sprints right now to maintain a balance, but hope to up my distance over the next few years when my kids start school and hopefully, I can train a little more without child care center time limits LOL.   I recently started working very part time in the Kid's Activities Department at Life Time Fitness.  In my past life (my pre-kids days) I was a Recreation Therapist, my focus in the broad field was working in mental health settings all along the continuum from community mental health, out patient/day treatment to acute care and med-psych.  I did a lot of education and therapy on life skills, managing symptoms/coping skills through the use of recreation, etc etc etc. I'm passionate about anything disability or illness related and sport or recreation.   I'll likely not work officially in the field again for many years as I still want to be around when my kids leave in the morning and get off the bus, but I hope to get more involved on a volunteer level.

International flight attendant based in New York. Fly to Europe, Asia, or South America, or Western Africa 7 times a month. Half of my training is done right after flying a 10 hour flight and being awake for 20... Helps prepare for the sleepless nights right before a race

Military pay sucks so I have to skimp on equipment and just train harder with what I have around the house.  I have a sea bag full of old clothes taped up that I use as a medicine ball.  My weight equipment consists of a bench and weights I found on craigslist for $20.  My bike is schwinn that I picked up for $400 and my wetsuit I have had for almost 10 years.  The only things I have actually slurged on are my shoes and my tri-suit.  Had to buy my wife an IPAD just to let me get the shoes.  Luckily the pools here on base are free and we have miles and miles of open road with little traffic.

Another "school" person here. I handle IT infrastructure for schools that don't have skilled Technology Directors on site. These are schools that usually have a teacher/tech person who handles curriculum and end-user support, but doesn't have (or want to have, or the time to have) the skills necessary to handle server/network/wireless/voip infrastructure. It's a very common scenario.

Instead of them having to hire a full-time on site guy, I save them money by providing mostly remote infrastructure support. I sometimes have to be on site, but it's rare. So I get to work from home most of the time. This might be changing though since IT in education is exploding lately and will continue to do so with the advent of electronic textbooks and curriculum. So I'll probably have to start branching out and providing more on-site support as more institutions move to the 1-to1 programs (a device for every student) that are becoming so prevalent these days.

My real job is software engineering. The programs I work on help people comply with military specs for logistics and technical publications. Some people I work with are active, some aren't. I'm the only one that resembles an endurance athlete in our group of 25 or so people. Someone who works in the building left some Lava magazines in the break room about a year ago. I never found out who it was. My husband and I each get a certain amount of "fun money" per week that we can spend on whatever we want.

My fun job is teaching fitness classes. I currently teach two RPM classes and one Spin class per week. I should be getting a Body Pump class in the next month or so once the gym finishes construction on a new group fitness room. I am passionate about anything health and fitness related, and tri is the most recent expression of that. All my fitness class money goes straight into the fun money account. I also get free gym and pool use.
