Subject: RE: Scoop on Kerr Lakecamprunner - 2012-05-29 6:43 PM I got it out and tried it on. What's the best way to practice getting it off? Just get in the shower/bathtub with it? I definitely need to practice that part as last time it took me WAAAYYY longer than 10-20 seconds to get it off. ----------------------- Well, when I say 10-20 seconds you probably need to take that with a grain of salt. As you know, time in a transition area is a funny thing. But I can't imagine it's more than 30 at most. Far be it from me to dispense too much advice on this topic but what the heck, here are some thoughts. Pull the suit down to your waist while you're running to T1. I also heard a tip to leave your goggles and swim cap on your head so your hands are free and that worked well last race. Next, I typically turn aside as soon as I get into T1 to take the suit off rather than going all the way to my bike. There's usually a big empty space with no people or bikes to contend with. You can also do it before you get into T1 but that drags down your swim time : ) Then it's 1) pull to your knees, 2) pull one leg out and step on the suit, and 3) pull/step the other leg out. It's a fast, messy affair. Oh yeah, don't forget to use Tri-Glide or some sort of lubricant before putting the suit on. Makes things much easier. As far as practice, I've only practiced outside of races once or twice after open water practice swims. Could probably do it in the shower. |
