3.8 miles puts me at a 7:03/mile pace which make sense. I really can't believe they could be .5 miles off. Like you said it's an out and back straight line.

okay, pretty much confirmed the 3.8 miles. The dam is 1.7 miles each way according to the website and the run up from transition to the road and back couldn't be more than .2 miles each way.

What did you guys think of the event overall?  I live in Lexington and want to make this my first triathlon next year. Although I might try to find a sprint first, maybe the Tom Hoskins Memorial.  Anyway, I want to compete in the Dam Tri next year and wanted to hear what you guys thought about it. Any race reports out there?

I thought it was quite a good race.

race was very enjoyable and very well put together. I would highly recommend it. Maybe a sprint such as for 2013 before jumping into the longer distance:

Yep, this was my 5th race, and my favorite so far. It was easy to park, easy to set up, a good course, and well-run. I'd recommend it. Oh yeah, I liked the shirt too.

Agreed! My new favorite for the Midlands area. It just replaced The Lake Murray Tri out at Dreher Island which is a great event in itself. Setup has many great events earlier in the season so I would recommend any of the Midlands events including Tom Hoskins (YMCA, not Setup Events but still well run) but definitely keep the Dam Tri on the list. In regards to the Dam Tri run distance I know two people who clocked the run at 3.9 on their GPS. Oh well. Still a nice run to cap off a great bike and swim. Toughest hill was the bike out of T1!
