Today I went for a 53 mile ride. I stopped my 910xt at 50.88 because a bridge went up so I figured the last 2 would just be my cool down. When I tried to load my workout onto my computer, it didn't show up. I almost had a heart attack as this was my first 50 mile ride ever. In doing some searching online, it looks like someone else has a similar issue on the garmin forum. He suggested that rides over 50 miles are somehow being producing bad data inside the fit file. When he checked the file integrity everything was fine. It had something to do with the internal fit data. I'll give Garmin a call Monday to see if they have suggestions. Anyone else seen this issue?

On a positive note, apart from getting stuck at the bridge I averaged about 19.3mph over the 51 miles. It may even be higher when I look at moving pace as I had to stop at a number of lights. Thi was with a pretty nasty headwind through 15-20 miles of the ride also.

Had a 63 mile ride last week that uploaded fine. Sorry for your troubles hope it doesn't happen to me was just letting you know that the 50 mile mark is not necessarily te culprit here.
Good luck figuring it out.

I love mine also. No other issue to date apart from the occasion extra/missed length in the pool.

When you record data on the 910xt are you doing every second or every 3 seconds? I'm wondering if it is the amount of data in the file that is causing the issue.

Can someone take a look at the .fit file for my workout and see if it loads into anything, or does anyone have any suggestions on something to read .fit files.

I did a 54 mile ride yesterday and mine uploaded. I did have to manually upload it from garmin connect. Click upload and all new files. Somtimes when I go in my house the watch will start syncing before I can reset the watch. The file won't load unless I upload it from the garmin-connect. Also it took twice because I havent synced in awhile.

I've tried uploading manually a few times, but it just says uploading for ever. I'm going on 15 minutes now with no change.

I'm giving Garmin a call tomorrow to get this resolved.

I know you have had the watch a while, but did you press lap to save the file?  I know I forgot once.  Just a suggestion from experience.

I definitely "reset" the workout because I actually ended it 2 miles early (a drawbridge went up) and then stated a new one for my cool down. I had tried manually uploading, loading into MapMyFitness and Strava and none of them recognize the file so something in the data is corrupt. I'm giving Garmin a call tomorrow and will forward the .fit file to their tech support team when I talk to them. Hopefully they can figure it out because I really want to get an accurate look at this workout.

I had a similar experience but it happened after a 10 mile run about 6-8 weeks ago.  I think I did it in this sequence and it caused my 910xt to lose the workout data.  I hit the lap button at the end of the workout, then the stop button, then lap again OR held it to save the workout.  I did all that in a 5 second window.  When I got home, it tried to upload my workouts but it powered off and would not boot up after I tried powering it back on.

I contacted Garmin and they have no troubleshooting tips or record of how my sequence of button mashing could cause a malfunction and asked me to inform them if it happens again and will exchange it if it does.

Anyway, I had to plug in the charger for a few seconds and remove it to get it power up and boot.  After that, the problem has not happened since.
