I too am hoping for a dead calm morning, not that unusual this time of year.  THe course is so flat, smooth, and short I'm reaally hoping to break 20 mph.

How many triathlons have you done? Have any good advice for a newbie?

See you there!

THis is my first season of doing triathlons.  So far I've done two others (Green Bay & High Cliff) so I too am a newbie at this

Cool! How did you do at Green Bay? I volunteered because I had run the Bellin 10K the day before and there was no way my body could have handled another race. I hear that Door is organized by the same person as Cellcom GB Marathon and that was a beautifully organized race so I am getting so excited! 16 days till race day!

Happy Training!

Last year, the start of this race was delayed an hour or so because a storm came through overnight and destroyed transition. It resulted in a really nasty swim (stirred up the bottom of the bay), and a damp bike course. Even so, this was the fastest bike route I ever had. I don't have my time from the bike, because my timing chip didn't register coming out of the swim or out of T1, but based on my spedometer, I had no problem maintaining a 19-21 mile avg. I'm not a strong cyclist, and was getting passed quite a bit. So 20mph is very doable.

GB was my first tri and I finished middle of the Clydes.  Had a great time, got really addicted to racing.

I'm really excited to do this race too.  I keep a countdown timer on my computer.  Being local to this race it was my original goal race when I started tring last Sept.  Other things have come up with more importance to me (doing an Oly later in the year and attemping a marathon in the fall) but this tri is still definitely still big on my list.

As some of the others have said the sprint course is fast and flat, and I mean really flat. The bike you can tear through and I would not worry much about wind at all. The course has trees lining the road and is sheltered by them from the lake.
As long as it's not as hot as last year it will be a great race. Well it would be fun anyway but last year the heat made the run a little tough when you went out way too hard on the bike like I did.
Note to self, there are three legs to this race, not two.

The event is really well run too and very much first timer friendly. The water is also nice and clear once you get away from the starting line a little bit.

Hey!

I am so excited! This is my first race and it sounds like I picked a good one for a first sprint distance. Any last minute tips before race day?

Good luck everyone!

Im getting really excited for this race too. Maybe not bluff pass rd, but Ill deal with that during the race. Thisll be my first oly! Weather is looking to be pretty good too. Low of 63F, high of 80F, 30% chance of rain with WSW winds around 7 MPH. Not bad....

Tweaked my knee this weekend, but I'm going to try to do this race anyway. Will probably just walk the 5k.

Question for the locals - I spent my summers in Sturgeon Bay as a kid (have lots of family there), so know that area really well. However, I have to pick someone up from the airport in Green Bay at 10pm on Friday night. I've never done the drive from SB to GB. How long is it, and is it easy to find?

SB to the GB Airport is a hair over an hour for me.  THe GB airport is located on the opposite side of GB than the road to SB.  I assume you me how easy is the airport to find?  You can't miss it.  It's southwest of GB on Hwy 172.  IT's still pretty much out in the middle of a fairly open area, casino on the right airport on the left.

Nope, doesn't look like they'll be posting bib numbers beforehand.   The website does have a list of registrats. i broke it down and there is 278 in the Oly, 531 sprinting, and 150 in the relays.

Hey sorry to hear about your tweeked knee! Are you doing the sprint or oly? On the upside of it for me, that means that I won't come in last unless I am REALLY slow on the bike! LOL! Are we still planning on the BTers meeting up before or after the race?

I'll be around whenever. I know nobody racing, so I'd welcome a friendly face!

I'm bringing my wetsuit. What has the temp in the Bay been like this summer?

Actually current surface temp at midnight yesterday was around 73 degrees F. That's not too bad. If it stays warm there is a chance it might get warmer. Should be interesting because I am swimming without a wetsuit.
Well, here. My name is Pam. I'm from the Green Bay area. Now you know someone who is racing. I am really nervous because this is my first one. It would be nice to know someone else who either is new or has done this before!
