Run marshall at IMMoo last year

Just wondering why is Ironman Wisconsin called IMMoo.  Did Google it, could not find an answer.  Thanks!

I believe it is because the race is in Wisconsin, Wisconsin has a lot of cows, and cows go "Mo." please, let me know if I am wrong.
Never been to Wisconsin so I can't answer that, but then why isn't Ironman Texas abbreviated IMBaa?

IMWI volunteered med tent (I am a doc) and it was extremely organized and well done

IMFL volunteered giving swim to bike bags.  Fun, hectic.

IMFL got the primo job of riding a bike in front of the 2nd place female pro.  Super cool job, Neck was in spasm for about a week afterwards from riding at a slow pace looking behind me

IMFL med tent.........I was the only doc in the tent from 4pm til midnight, like when everyone finishes.  Hectic and super stressful.

I think finish line is probabyl one of the funnest jobs FWIW

Can someone explain this job to me.  I didn't realize that the leading pro's had volunteers riding in front of them.  Is this to point out the course?  How do you know how fast to go?  What if you can't keep up?  I've never been to an IM event so I just had no idea this went on.  Thanks!

I've only volunteered at IMLP.  I've done run aid stations a bunch of times.  A couple years ago I volunteered at the turnaround aid station from 8-11.  Really saw the ugly side of IM.  All of River RD is dark, no spectators, and these were people who were just barely going to make the midnight cutoff.  I DID get to hand out aid to Matt Long, which was pretty cool.

Also was the bike escort for one of the male pros one year.  He had several female fans in different parts of the course that would flash and/or jiggle certain body parts at him.  Pretty damn funny.

Last year I did bike timing from 2-5 and was responsible for making sure people got ready to dismount.  Pretty funny to hear all the comments at the end from people who had been on their bikes for 7-8 hours. ("Oh thank GOD!" "Hell YEAH I'm dismounting!" "I never want to see my bike AGAIN!" , etc.)  Saw one girl who seemed really unhappy and like she was having a bad day towards the middle of my shift. Was wondering why (seemed like a fast day to ME to be done that early), but then saw her race number  - FPRO. Ouch.

I'm volunteering at IMLP and doing the first bike transition 8am-2pm and the last run aid station shift 8pm-11:45pm. Figure I get to see both ends of the spectrum before standing in line to sign up on Monday. My friend is an RN working the medical tent. I guess we both get to see what we're getting ourselves into!
