Subject: whats the best camera for your bike ?

Been researching cameras for the bike.

So far these are the ones that seem the best:

- GoPro Hero2 HD

- Contour GPS or ROAM

- Replay XD

interested in your feedback, other cameras, and suggestions.

We've used the basic GoPros for still and video and I am continuously impressed with the results.

That said, the Contour camera, the long and narrow cylindrical one, seems to be easier to wear in some configurations:

consensus was GoPro, just wish it wasn't so bulky.

Just wanted to re-jump this thread and see if anyone has more feedback on cameras/bikes?  Looking to get one of these models.

I only have experience with the GoPro 2 and it's the bomb.  I use it for biking, underwater swim analysis, skiing, super slow motion golf swing analysis, you name it and it works.  Its so durable I can mount it on my shotgun and it takes the abuse.

I agree its bulky, but the versatility and quality trumps all that for me.

I got a GoPro with my REI dividend a couple of months ago.

The video and picture taking quality is awesome.

I got the handlebar mount because I felt like the helmet mount was very bulky.  Plus it added about 6 inches of height to me.  It only took catching myself on one tree on my mtb to seek out the handlebar mount.

Got a Hero GoPro HD, but haven't tried it on the bike yet.

Took this neat beach shot with!

I've had a Contour HD for quite some time and love it. I mount it from my handle bars so it's below them and it's out of the way, yet takes great video. The newer versions are excellent, as well.

GoPro has better marketing behind it, thus is being more popular overall. But both are great cameras. Use the one that fits your application.
