Pre-race routine:

Weird racing on A Friday afternoon had meeting all morning and headed out to the race. It was on a college campus on the last day of classes to the atmosphere was great!!
Event warmup:

I rode the 4.5 mile bike loop and found out it was hilly & windy. I swam a few hundred yards prior to the pool swim. Saw a few guys who looked fit knew I was going to have to push today!!

My left goggle filled up during the swim that was stinky!!
Had trouble telling were the movable bulkhead was.
heats went off every 15 minutes so you never knew where you were during the race.

Comments:

Bike went well I pushed as hard as I could have. The hills were very tricky
Course was 2 - 4.5 mile loops with a total of 1100 ft elevation gain for the 9 miles.
There were always people to catch on the bike I never got passed but I passed tons of people I would ride right into their draft the cruise by.

Run course was on the colleges X-country course due to the 4 days of rain this week the course was a mud pit people were running barefoot and my shoes were slipping all over my feet. Did lots of passing and never got passed so that was good !! 921ft elevation gain over 3.1 miles
What would you do differently?:

try to get a earlier heat to avoid a torn up course
Post race

8 strides

What limited your ability to perform faster:
