28![]() | Subject: Athena sized tri-wear-??Any tips or advise on Athena sized tri-wear?
I will need to order some running/compression shorts as they are not available here and am having the hardest time trying to find my size baised on measurements. I'm not looking to get a full tri-suit yet or invest a too much as I am just starting out and my first tri isn't till November. But I need these clothes for training in my running as the regular shorts I wear just aren't cutting it for me. Thanks |

One of the things to consider is to read up on the reviews of the fit, some brands will run one size smaller, so a xl feels like a large. Some will fit right on in size. It is trial and error unfortunately! |

My favorite trisuit of all times (male or female) was a Desoto mens suit from several years ago. If you really want to stick with female lines, Danksin goes up to an XXL trisuit (18-20) and teamestrogen has some plus sizes. I've ordered many things from aerotechdesigns. You should definitely check them out for large sizes (tri and cycling clothes).

Member 25![]() Mckinney, TX | Subject: RE: Athena sized tri-wear-??I got a Danskin tri-suit about a month ago for my 1st tri 3 weeks ago and it did the trick. If was a little tight on the chest and then loose from under my belly to my mid thigh. . . If you could find a two piece suit i would recommend that because you might be a smaller on top or bottom so you can mis-match sizes you know. The Danskin worked well and I got it onsale at REI clearance so you might want to check into that. I got the suit in like 5 days after I ordered it from REI. |

Member 22 Geneva, IL | Subject: RE: Athena sized tri-wear-??Hi there! I did a lot of research on plus size wear (I have my first tri in less than 4 weeks). I purchased my top and bottom from REI. I wear 16/18 in jeans and XL in tops. I am also a 40DD and my top and bottoms fit fine. I got 2XL in both of these
http://www.rei.com/product/828545/danskin-tri-shorts-womens-7-inseam and http://www.rei.com/product/828546/danskin-tri-tank-top-womens I bought a really support sports bra at the begining of the year- i got it offline but I forget what site. Be prepared to spend a little extra on a nice sports bra. I usually double up anyway haha. Good luck!!! |

Regular 93![]() ![]() ![]() Knoxville, TN | Subject: RE: Athena sized tri-wear-??my fave so far is the Mens Desoto Forza tri bib. its fits me better since it's a bib style with the thin tri padding , I can fit my hips and the bib styling makes the chest size not a problem. I wear my Enell sports bra under it with a compression tank top and I'm good to go swim, bike, and run.
Good luck and enjoy your race |

Extreme Veteran 565![]() ![]() ![]() PaaMul QRoo, MX | Subject: RE: Athena sized tri-wear-??Thanks for this thread. I came here specifically for clothing advice. I'm used to changing but this year starting to lose the ability to change clothes. I have no tri-specific clothing other than a pair of De Soto shorts. I've been thinking a one piece is best (no belly rolls) but maybe not? |

I train in the aquatard but don't use it for races. If you are from Canada and live near the border then just get a mailbox across the line (PM me if you need help). You can also call them and they will be able to do a custom shipment at JustMySize. |

Veteran 136![]() ![]() Wilson, NC (East of Raleigh, NC) | Subject: RE: Athena sized tri-wear-??My #1 reccommendation is for the Moving Comfort Sports bras - Juno and Fiona are my favorites (just different back closures). They are fine to swim in, and then go right into the bike and run and know you are supported. I got an SLS3 outfit last year because they are longer tops and go over your hips, but I don't think they go beyond a XL (I'm a 38D and it's roomy). They also have a 7" inseam tri short which is nice. I just didn't go with them this year because I am not a fan of the color choices on the tops and I have enough black shorts. Tops are trial and error, just keep trying on until you find something you like. If you order online, make sure they have a liberal return policy. You didn't mention your size, but swimoutlet.com has a great clearance section. Kristin, Ohio

I found the cycle shirts a bit short but the bottoms are awesome. I just realized this place is not too far from me. They seem to have some good prices. I am going to check them out one day. Thanks for the tip. |

I've just looked at aerotech so far - and they have a LOT of selection that will work for me - another "super" athena. It is funny looking through clearance on these sites...and they always have XS...funny isn't it. I see that in the store too. Do they make more of the smaller sizes or do the smaller sizes sell less?!!? (MAYBE the sizes are too small?!?!) Thanks Twink - if you're ever state side doing a tri...let me know :-) |
