Subject: Why the Heck Does Youtube hate my house?

I just cannot understand this.

Some time ago I noticed that youtube just stopped loading on my desktop, but after a fresh windows installation, it was fine. But over time, more and more problems. Reloading a page doesn't work. I thought it was the system.

But then my wife's laptop, using the same wifi in the house does it too. Again, could be problems in the OS.

Now my daughter has a kindle fire. The kids can load netflix streaming no problem. But again: youtube specifically craps out on the kindle fire.

The only common denominator is my modem and router. But if other streaming video sites can get through, how in the world is it just youtube on anything that uses my wi fi?

With multiple PC's/devices doubt it is the OS. More likely you Internet provider and/or wireless router. I had a problem with certain sites (youtube, linkedin) but ONLY when using the hotspot on my mobile phone wen I was on the road. VERY long story short. turns out there are certain sites that were "known" problems "no idea why". I got them to replace my phone and it works like a charm now. I'd check with your carrier and then your router for known issues.

You forgot the other common denominator.  Youtube. Youtube has MAJOR issues.

At work we have a gigantic connection.  We can have all 10 machines pulling down HULU or Vimeo videos at the same time with zero issues.  But 99% of the time, try to load a Youtube video and the dang thing buffers like it's on a coffee break.

I have a few inside connection at Google and complained about this before.  It's pretty well known internally that the YouTube infrastructure is way overwhelmed.

I'm not saying there may not be other issues but when the source has a problem that's usually the culprit.
