Hi

I have just entered into my first triathlon (olympic), and although this is serveral months off can anyone recommend any good training sites . I firstly need to drop about 20lbs. Then would like to get a regular excise routine before increasing this up to the last 12 weeks where the serious and hard training starts. Thanks

Try this link

http://www.trinewbies.com/1TPIntOly.htm

I am using there half Ironman training program. Also check out this link at Active.com

http://active.com/story.cfm?story_id=6730&sidebar=571&category=give...

It is a 21 week program geared to a beginner. I used it last year for my first tri.

Good luck

You should start doing tri specific training while you are losing your weight and not wait until the weight is off. Just start out slowly and don't overdo it.

u can also double the sprint distance at http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/sprint%20programs.htm to get an olympic flavor.

what exercise levels r u doing now and exactly when is your first tri?  we would love to help u tailor something if your in a bind.

Hi

Its the London triathlon 31st July /1st august 2004 olympic distance . Currently I cycle to and from work so am covering about 45 miles a week. I have previously done a marathon ( just over 4 hours) and a couple of half marathons (2hrs 7 mins) but have put on about 14lbs since then. I cannot do the front crawl but start lessons in January for 10 weeks to learn the technique . I would be delighted if you could tailor me something.

Thanks

well the sprint x2 here or tno r good programs.  if u double the sprint here the run training is a bit longer...it is because a lot of us r slow since we r beginners (certainly me) and just wanna make sure u cover the mileage...BUT it sounds like u have the run covered.

u need to schedule at least a long bike per week, i guess u r doing 4.5miles to and from.  start with a long bike of 10miles straight once a week.  need to build up continuous distance...then build up no more than 10%/week and take an ez week per month.  u should then get to your ~25mile oly race mileage.

the swim?  u should be fine if your starting lessons in jan.  u will build up no problem...just listen to your coach.  of course now, u could do breast-stroke to get the muscles used to the swim until freestyle lessons.

those r just some of my thoughts.  any body else???
