Harris or Jordan lake swim Saturday?????

New to the whole open water swim thing (all swimming for that matter) but am interested in goin.  Closer to Harris, but I don't have a problem going to Jordan

I am gone this weekend and next Saturday.  I will definately do some swimming in Harris next Sunday.

I ride my bike to Ebeneezer every weekend and swim some laps there. I feel quite safe to swim alone there on a weekend, b/c there are always swimmers around and you can swim right alongside the the rope in case you need to take a rest and grab onto something. Also, riding your bike in is free - no parking fee!

I'm happy to meet peeps there if you want a swim buddy, or maybe meet at Farrington boat launch for a little bike/swim/bike workout. My times vary, but generally I leave my house at 10 or 11 am, and get to Ebeneezer an hour later. I usually do this Saturday, but sometimes Sunday. I don't like to get up super early...I'd rather battle heat than sleepiness.

I can post next weekend what my plans are if people want to join.

I am also new to open water swimming and would like to just tag along with someone. Keyone it would be cool if you post your schedule.

I started swimming at Beaverdam on Sundays, there is a group that goes out around 5pm each Sunday and they usually have 2-4 kayaks out there to monitor everyone. VERY nice group and that part of the lake doesn't allow motorized boats so no need to worry about getting run over.  It's 1.5 miles to the dam and back but you could easily cut it short or do 2 laps even!  They also swim Wednesday nights around 6:15pm.

Hmmmm, seems Saturday and Sunday are going to be the same weather-wise: hot, hot, heat. That means I'll do my BSB (Bike, Swim, Bike) tomorrow. I am thinking of leaving around 9:30. Putting me at Ebeneezer at around 10:45 ish. Anyone interested? I'll check back in here in the am when drinking my coffee.

Jennifer, Can you clip a google map of where the "beaverdam" area in the Jordan lake area?  I am going to try to make it to the swim tomorrow night.

Check for Beaver Dam at Falls Lake!  I am also interested in joining that swim on Sundays - it is nice to have a group option on the weekend (most are on weekdays) and to have the kayaks along.  I ended up there yesterday to check it out - water's warm these days!

After I swimming in harris lake this week i realize now why there isn't much response to my messages about swimming there.  As I now know there really isn't a good place to swim in the park at least.  And the couple of places where the lake was accessible had signs saying "no Swimming". i did anyway but the park ranger frowned on it.

I'm riding down to Ebeneezer again today. Probably starting at around 9am, getting to lake around 11am-ish. Sorry for last minute posts, that's how I plan my workouts, tho! email me if you want to join. We could meet by bike somewhere near by...cuz its free to ride into park. tho, i met a woman last week there who said a ranger gave her a hard time about bikers getting in for free, yikes!
