Subject: Lifetime Fitness announces $1 million Tri Series Finally some REAL money in triathlon. The Lifetime Tri in Minneapolis is already one of the biggest purses (if not the biggest) at about $200K to the winner. It'll be fun to watch an even bigger field of top pros go for the big cash. From StarTribune.com --------------------------------- Triathlon, generally known for its three grueling sports, is about to embark on a four-part series with a seven-figure purse. Backed by Lifetime Fitness CEO Bahram Akradi, the Life Time Fitness Triathlon Series will include Olympic-distance triathlons in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Minneapolis. The Twin Cities event in 2007 will be the championship of this first "grand slam" of triathlon -- swimming, running and cycling -- that will have a total prize pool of $1,059,000, including a potential $200,000 bonus for either man or woman who wins all four events. |
