I completed my first tri yesterday (Mooseman 70.3) and trying to figure out how to create a wall display for my stuff. I've seen some cool framed setups that had everything incorporated. How do you guys display your stuff?

Right now, medals are hanging on the wall upstairs in the hallway till I can find a better way to display them.  They are all mixed in with the kids soccer medals, etc.

My numbers are sitting on my desk, although my husband has his numbers hanging on the wall in the garage.

I would like to do a case display at some point, but haven't had a chance yet!  I liked the idea someone had here of using the t-shirts you couldn't wear in the display, so I think I will try that too!

My Jammers pretty much take care of that...

I tape my number up on the garage wall, I'm slowly wall-papering with race numbers from past years. The medals end up in a draw, if its a cool one, maybe I'll save it as a key chain. Otherwise in the trash.

I tried to give a medal to my kid once, but he gave it back at me and told me he didn't do the race and it didnt feel right for him to have it.

If the shirt is cool, I'll wear it for training, otherwise I'll use it for painting or fishing, or if it is ugly cotton, for waxing the car.

M.k I Shoebox.  But I do write a small race report of sorts on the back of each race bib before they go into the shoebox.

For bib numbers, I have a 3-ring binder with plastic document protectors, I write my time on the back of the bib and put it in a document protector in the binder.

For medals I have a rack with hooks I put them on

The trophies go on a shelf in the living room, I also have my finish line pic from ironman Louisville framed and sitting on that shelf as well.

I've only ever kept two of them - my BQ qualifier and Boston itself.  My wife had the bib numbers and medals framed.  Otherwise, I just toss the bib and give the medals to my little guy until he breaks it.

My race bibs are in a drawer and my medals are hanging on the back of a closet door. I do have the swim cap from my first race hanging very unceremoniously on the wall in my cube.

Everything in shoe boxes burried on a laundry room shelf.

I don't see the need to display - but I earned them, so nice to keep.

Bib numbers I normally lose on the way home. The medals make great Xmas tree oranments. A couple of the medals are bottle openers, and i use them as such.

I have simple clear frame that I have my finishers picture along with bib from when I finished each distance the first time (Sprint/Oly/HIM). They are proudly displayed on the walls in my man-bathroom downstairs. My IM frame will be over the throne. The other bibs I have are just in my man cave.

I write my splits and the date/race info on the back of my Bibs and put them in a binder. My medals are hanging on a nail in my bedroom until I get enough that I will have to do something nicer to display them all.

I've never displayed them - I'm just not sentimental about the stuff. (I didn't attend college or MBA graduation either.)

They used to sit in a box collecting dust and spider webs until I learned about Medals4Mettle.  I've donated all of my triathlon and marathon medals, including Boston and the Ironman, to medals4mettle.org.  It's a non-profit that gives medals to cancer patients - most of them are children.

I just podium'd (1st overall female and 2nd overall female) for the first time in my first two races this year and just boxed up those trophies to send away to my local medals4mettle chapter!

But, I know the medals/awards/etc. mean a great deal to a lot of people.  Several of my friends had a professional framing/collage done with their favorite races - do an internet search and you'll find lots of companies and/or ideas!

In case your interested, instead of keeping them in a drawar or throwing them in the garbage...there's a charity that will take unwanted medals and give them to survivors of diseases such as cancer.    http://www.medals4mettle.org/

For the bibs, I have them laminated, after I autograph the bib of course, and frame them. Then I put them on the wall next to a nude mural of myself on a bear skin rug, a la George Costanza. But mine is scratch and sniff with actual bear skin for texture.  I then put my medals all over the house so people can see them. I then go to a glass blower and have my swim caps made into a goblet for all to drink from.

Great minds think alike!  It's a great cause especially for those who just throw them in a box and forget about them.  (Not that there's anything wrong with displaying them either.  Just a great option for the box peeps.)

Most of my bibs get thrown out, and most of my medals are toys for my kids.

My IM bibs are taped to the wall in my basement where my trainer is set up. My IM medals are hung in my office next to a race picture collage my wife made for me.

I currently have mine hanging up in my office/gym to remind and motivate me, but after reading this, they are going in a box..... to be mailed to Medals4Mettle.  What a fantastic idea and a great cause.  I'll even part with my one and (probably) only 3rd place podium finishing medal, because I have my photos and memories, but hopefully it can give a cancer sufferer some motivation as they are the real battlers out there.  Thanks for sharing.

Mine are actually hanging on my treadmill. Shows how much use the both get. Occasionally, I'll put all of them on when we're BBQing just to mess with my cousins. I'd almost rather they gave out pint glasses or mugs. Those seem to get used a lot around here. But, I'm actually pretty proud of my medals.

Then how do I prove to my kids how great I am/was?

;-)

I may have to give the m2m a try.  I may keep some of my important ones...  But the rest?  Good idea!
