Subject: Drop in OW swim groups Maui and Kona?
I am headed to Maui and Kona for 2 weeks end of July/beginning of August, and have a 4.8 mile OW swim a week after I get back. Need to swim, will find a pool, but would like to OW swim

In Maui will be in Kihei so could go Wailea or Lahaina direction.

Kona will be mostly on a dive boat from Sat nite to Fri morning, but I will have a couple days available before and after for a swim, staying at the King Kam.

Anyone know of any drop in friendly groups? Safe to swim from Dig Me beach alone? Are
there buoys set out there all the time? Boat traffic?   What's the deal with the swim to the Cook memorial...  That looks pretty cool.

thanks

Just a bump, will be there Friday.

Probably won't be able to hook up with any organized groups.  Anyone in South Maui have advice where absolutely not to go?

Hi Chris,

Haven't been on BT too much recently - sorry I missed your message.  Try Janet Renner at jkrenner@earthlink.net - sorry Malcolm didn't respond.  He's usually so good about that.

There is a 10K up Iao Valley on Saturday morning 7/28 at 7:30 - check out VIRR.com if you want to sign up.  Uphill going, downhill coming back - beautiful scenic run.

Sunday there is a 50-mile bike ride leaving Kamaole Beach Park I at 7:30 - to Lahaina and back (with a stop for coffee in Lahaina).

Hope you find a group activity!
