Subject: Race swim, shirt or no shirt?

My first triathlon is in a little under 3 weeks, and I have a question that I'm not sure I've seen on these forums before.

I won't be wearing a wetsuit for the swim, water temperature last year was 76 (OWS). Should I wear a tri shirt for the swim leg, or not bother with one and either put that or a cycling jersey on during T1? I had been leaning towards wearing the tri top in the water, but was recently thinking maybe I can get by no shirt...

Would no shirt be acceptable for an OWS, or should I just start practicing with the tri top and wear it throughout?

a) Some races require you to cover your torso!

b) Try putting on your tri top when you are wet!

"b)" is a very good point. It's damn difficult to put on a tight top when you're wet.

^^ This.

Either swim with the tri top on, or do the whole race without a top. Trying to put a shirt on in transition when you're all wet will suck.
Tri shirts are meant to be swam in, they dry quickly and they aren't constrictive to your swim stroke... plus, some have pockets so that you can carry gels, etc..
