First, I hope everyone is safe and nobody was directly impacted by the high park fire! Does anyone live in the area and need any help?Second, I'm curious if people are adjusting their training plans due to air quality? How do you adjust when it's smokey?

I live in Fort Collins and the fire is burning about 10 miles west of here. It is completely out of control and moving extremely quickly. I have lived here for 13 years and never seen anything this big, this close. It is definitely affecting air quality. All outdoor school and city sporting events have been cancelled due to the smoke. Ash is starting to cover cars, etc. Even in the gym at lunch, I could smell smoke. It is certainly not a good idea to exercise outside while this is going on.

If anyone else in the area needs help, please message me. My husband works closely with the Humane Society and can offer support for evacuated animals, big and small, too. Stay safe, everyone!

I live in Fort Collins as well and am training for the Boulder tri series.  I have found the smoke to be terrible in the mornings but tends to clear up throughout the day.  I was able to swim in an outdoor pool monday night (not a hint of smoke in the air), but tuesday morning the smoke was very thick and I had to sweat it out on the trainer for 90 minutes.  For my runs I've been going to the gym and running on the treadmill Yell there's nothing worse than 60 minutes on a treadmill.
The Boulder sprint is this weekend.  The fire will still be raging and there will be smoke so I wonder if they'll cancel it.  I can't see a lot of people participating if there is smoke.
