hello everyone,
i am a newbie to the sport and decided in mid march that I needed a lifestyle change, I was stressed out, overweight, and generally uninspired. I had just moved with my wife and 1 1/2 year old away from my family and the beaches of florida to atlanta and just wasnt feelin' it. So my wife decided to train for a 5k and I said ok me too, then I decided to take it a step further-TRIATHLON. Well, 2.5 months later, 20 pounds lighter, and several miles and hours of training later I feel like a different person. I am once again confident, happy, and Have the enegy and motivation to be a better person in my job and at home. My first triathlon is in 3 weeks, I am still struggling a bit on the bike and not a very fast runner and still have 25 pounds to lose, but I KNOW I can finish. This spring has been a life changing adventure and I cant wait to see how far I can take it.

Congrats on your weight loss and goals!  Awesome!

Welcome to BT.  You will find a lot of inspiration and a lot of people who have a similar story to yours.

You are gonna do great in your tri!

Well done!  I'm no expert (just approaching my first tri as well), but from your logs, it looks like you are prepared for the challenge ahead.  Have fun and best of continued success!!

Welcome to BT! I'm fairly new to this site as well. I'm also in the Atlanta area and there are lots of people on this site in the area too. I know I saw several BT's who planned on doing the same race also. Good luck in your first race and have fun!

Now I see you're in Roswell I wanted to let you know that it's a great area to be in. There seems to be lots of triathletes in the area and lots of great places to train. I think the Peachtree Tri Club, www.peachtreetriclub.com, does some group workouts in that area. I thought about checking it out but the dues are too much on my limited budget and it's too far to drive. Also, you can check out the three bike shops in Roswell, Roswell Bikes, Performance Bicycles and Cycleworks. They all do organized rides and Cycleworks has a triathlon team. Oh, and all3sports.com has a store just south of Roswell, off of the Northridge exit off of 400. Good luck with your race!

Mindy

Yeah- I do the 25 mile roswell ride on thursday (and get left in the dust, But you gotta start somewhere!) and all3sports is very convenient- I just found it and they relieved me of some of my money very quickly. I am doing what i can training on my own during odd hours- but may look into joining a club when I can keep up with some of the other athletes- and work within thier schedule.
