Andy Schleck's parents announced this morning he won't be riding in the Tour and possibly the Olympics because of a spinal fracture sustained during the Criterium du Dauphine.

Wow, he's had a rough season already that just got worse.  Feel bad for the kid.

So, who are the faves going into the tour this year?  Frank, Cadel, and Wiggins?

I think the Tour this year is Team Sky's to lose.  The amount of talent on that team is ridiculous.  I think Wiggins just needs to be within one minute of Evans by the penultimate stage and he will take the win.

BUT, I also think that team Sky is going to accommodate Cav, so that means less fresh legs for Wiggins. BMC only has one goal in mind and that is to get Evans to the finish in yellow.

Well that sucks.  At least he got out ahead of the start so it's not a distraction to the rest of the team.    Frank, Chris Horner, Andreas K   time to step up and be the big dogs for Radioshack

Horner isn't racing in the TDF either...

How about Hesjedal? Okay, the double Giro/TdF win is going to be tough, but I gotta cheer for the guy.

Bummer to hear about Andy. He couldn't catch a break this year. As for who will win the tour, going with an underdog-Sylvain Chavanel.

ahhhh,  supposedly a back issue and/or internal problems with the team....

TDF is looking very intriguing.

Poor Andy wasn't having a good year anyway.  Probably best that he can have a recharge and restart.   I wish they had shown his accident at the time trial, but all that happened is he showed up a little late with a torn outfit.  No other details.  Super weird!

My money is on Wiggo.  He was so composed and determined at the Criterium du Dauphine.   Generally I feel Cadel is a bit of a follower, not a leader, and while a suberb bike racer I think he doesn't always take the necessary risks.  I know he won last year, but I think it might have been a set of circumstances that won't present for him again.  Wiggo, I feel, makes things happen for himself.   Or...  was Cadel holding back the CdD as a mind trick and to save his big gusto for the Tdf?  There are certainly other good riders, but I think it's Wiggo's year.

With all the TT'ing this year it's Wiggo's to lose.  Cadel isn't a bad TT'er but Wiggins will be putting serious time into him in those TT miles.

It's pretty likely Cav won't even finish the tour this year. It would be my guess he's going to focus on a once in a lifetime opportunity... winning the Olympics at home.

Sucks about Andy... while he's got a lot of seeming *whine* to him, I like watching him race. Maybe it's Frank's year to come out of the shadow.
