I didn't even know about it until you posted this, but it looks like a pretty neat event... and it definitely helps that it's a HFP managed race.

I'm doing an Oly the week before and the week after, but I'm thinking that it might be fun to try to squeeze this in and just call it an intense workout between races. It looks like a *really* fast course. Do you have any info on how the roads are in that area (rough/smooth)?

I have a lot of info on the roads as I live in gibsonburg and the bike portion goes past my house. All the roads are mostly flat with a few small inclines. roads are assfault a little bumpy but not bad, I biked and ran the course already. The run is a nature trail run that is very nice, swim is in an old stone quarry that is very clear. Hope you can make it!

I am also signed up to do this event - I am looking forward to it.  It's my first venture to Northern Ohio for a tri.   I wanted to mix up the locations this year, and not do everything at Alum Creek in Columbus ;o)   (I did Ceasars Creek, Deer Creek, and campus of Michigan State last year)

To the person that lives in Gibonsburg - can you give me some hotel reccomendations for ease to the event the morning of.    Is it easier to stay up Sandusky way?  I'm coming from Columbus but realize I might have to stay a little further north to find an ideal hotel.  I have points at the major hotel chains - so Hampton, Comfort Inns and Holiday Inns are all good for me.

THANKS!

Sandusky has a lot of hotels but is about 45 mins away from Gibsonburg. Fremont would be a closer option(15mins away) and if you have points for the Comfort Inn it is located in walking distance to resturants ect. http://www.comfortinn.com/hotel-fremont-ohio-OH224  There is a holliday inn about 5 mins from there right off route 53 too.

How did you do?

I loved loved loved the race!   It's so nice to swim in water that you can actually see something.

Great finisher glasses, and Stadium Blankets with logo for the Top 3 finishers in each division.

Great to hear!

I did better than I expected. Finished in 1hr 26mins. I had a lot of fun. Deffinately need to work on my swimming, when I hit the beach I thought to my self holly crap I still have to bike and run.

I am already looking for next one!
