The individual medal isn't entirely noteworthy:

But when you put 5 years' worth of them together, it forms a Texas Star (Race is in Ft. Worth)
I have one more year to go

Crap, that's the coolest medal I've ever seen.  Now I have to go run five ultramarathons.

No kidding, that's a really cool idea for medals!

Hehe they give the medal for Half Marathon, Marathon AND Ultra Marathon. I just wanted at least one of each in my collection

I tell you though, it was absolutely genius marketing there. I just happened to pick that race for my 30th birthday race when they gave out the 1st years medals. I think they are *only* doing it for these 5 years so naturally I had to come back for the NEXT FOUR YEARS! Genius.

The Ragnar medals are pretty cool.  HUGE and really detailed sometimes, and they have bottle openers built into them.  Here's my teammate wearing the Florida Keys medal from this January, plus the two-piece medal for the "double" (running another race in 2011 in another location).  I am a bit bigger than the slim torso you will see in this pic, but honestly I had to take my medals off after 5 minutes because it was hurting my neck!

Wow - That's cool!

They would be fools not to renew the series. I'm not ashamed to say I'd do just for the medals alone.  The five year plan really sets the hook, no "one and done" marathoners there. Really cool idea.

My finisher medals are lame.  I vote these the coolest ever.

Edit- Did I mention cool?

This functional medal is my current favorite from Santa Cruz Tri Series 2011.

Here's my one and only finisher medal thus far.. Cleveland Half Marathon this year.
I really liked how the spinner in the center was a guitar for that whole "Home of Rock-n-Roll" thing

Best 2 I've received (both deserve much better than my sad camera skills Embarassed)

Beach2Battleship- Big thick (6mm) medal featuring hull & big guns of the old "Showboat"

Indy's 500MiniMarathon- Large medal with detailed relief graphics of the famous speedway (stands, pagoda, race car), & soft ribbon with nice graphics.

I got my first medal early June... It's addicting. Attempted to sign up for a half marathon (as a training run) just for the medal and see what I can do...

Not my medal (my wife's) and not a tri, but I did take the picture.  Disney runs seem to have cool medals.  The spinner in the middle is Tink.

I would do this race for the medal!  I LOVE Tinkerbell!

southwestmba - 2012-06-16 7:19 PM My favorite medal is still one of my first! Pacific Shoreline Marathon 2004. Surf City USA, Full Surfboard with the fin on the back! Liked the Rev 3 South Carolina Hot Air Balloon too.

get some molly's and anchor that thing down... the stick-on white hooks takes away from the art. Or at least paint them the same color as the wall.

sorry, the OCD in me.
