Total Time = 1h 29m 16s
Overall Rank = 101/184
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 3/7
Pre-race routine:

Got up early. 2 cups of coffee- one at home and one on drive up. Cinnamon raisin bagel with little butter for breakfast. Evacuated system at home and at race venue. Yay coffee!
Event warmup:

Swam with old goggles to first buoy and back. Realized they were not good and ran back to transition. Got newer goggles and swam 2/3 of way to first buoy and back. A good swim warm up is really helpful for me, esp. in short races.
Swim
  • 12m 2s
  • 586 yards
  • 02m 03s / 100 yards
Comments:

Need to work on my swimming. Pacing is off. Forgot to start my watch until first buoy. Did not sight well as I rounded second buoy and went straight for shore instead of around the third buoy. Corrected myself, but probably lost some time there.
What would you do differently?:

SWIM MORE!
Transition 1
  • 01m 13s
Comments:

Great transition. Much better than last time when my rachets on my shoes were stuck. This may be the fastest transition I've had yet at Eastman.
What would you do differently?:

Get up to speed better on bike. Breathing was tough. Need to get asthma meds again.
Bike
  • 46m 35s
  • 12 miles
  • 15.46 mile/hr
Comments:

Was a pretty good bike. Need to get more comfortable going downhill faster and cornering better. Was in aero for first time in a race. It helped immensely!! I took 4-5 min of my last time here.
What would you do differently?:

Would bike faster. Spend more time in aero.
Transition 2
  • 00m 48s
Comments:

Think I may have knocked over a bike in transition. However, this was super fast and the guy was taking up a significant portion of the rack and had poorly racked his own bike.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Really pleased with this transition.
Run
  • 28m 39s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 13s  min/mile
Comments:

Thought I was going faster- mile marker 1 was off. Thought I was running 5:35/m which is absurd. Was on 8:00/m by mile 2 by big hill and breathing hindered a faster pace on way back. This run was the best I've ever done here.
What would you do differently?:

Go faster!
Post race
Warm down:

Stretched and ate a super yummy brunch!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Being sick a few weeks before race limited training time. Asthma.

Event comments:

I love this race! It was the first tri we ever did and will always do it as long as our plans allow for it. I was so happy to take 9:21 off my time from 2 years ago!!! And I placed 3rd in my AG. Happy happy! Now to come back and crush it again next year :)
