I ask as I will be working in the Med tent on Sat and giving the HIM a go on Sunday (probably).   Wondering if I will see any of you there.  Best of luck everybody.

My wife is doing the Sprint Saturday and I'm in for my first 1/2 on Sunday.  I'm anxiously awaiting to hear that horn go off!

I'll be there.  Any ideas what the water temperatures are like?

Someone reported on the DC Tri Facebook page a water temp of 80 @ Murphy's Park.  I grew up swimming there, so that could be very accurate.  However, continue to keep an eye on this as any North wind will push in the colder water.  I have never known the waters to stay at 80 consistantly in that bay....just too open to the main body of water.

I'll be there.  It's my first HIM.  I volunteered last year, handing out medals, and somehow thought it looked like a fun challenge, despite the weather.  I won't be fast, but I think I'll be able to finish.

On July 4, I did a mock tri up at Murphy Park.  I swam the swim, or what I thought was close to it, biked the course, and did 6.5 miles of the run, including the bluff.  It was 98 degrees, and I finished without feeling sick.  My husband was there every 1.5 miles or so with ice, so that helped a lot.  I hope they have ice on the course this year.

As for water temperatures, I talked to the assistant race director at the East GB YMCA yesterday, and he said the temp was about 74 degrees on Saturday when they had a training day at Murphy Park.  I hope it's not over 77 because I want to use the wetsuit I bought!

Anyone know how the waves were assigned?  My wife and I were assigned wave 1 which appears to be pro / elite...

I did register us AFTER the race was said to be filled so maybe that had something to do with it?

Weird.  I'd email the race director if you don't want that.  A girl in my tri training group was accidentally assigned wave 1 instead of wave 11 and they switched her.

I'm in!! Can't wait. How is the bike course - I did Racine last year... anyone have a comparison? I'm slow at all 3 legs of the race but have endurance for some reason.

See you all there!!

I have biked the course twice.  I've never done Racine, so I don't have a comparison, but I'm not very fast or efficient on my bike and I liked it.  It's pretty flat until about mile 26, then there's a small hill, then it kind of just rolls until the end.  There's a series of smaller hills around miles 43-47, too.  But they're not bad and if it's not windy I think it can be a pretty good course.

From what I've heard, it's the run part that's the most challenging.  But it seems like they're going to have a lot of ice and fluids on the course.

I'm getting pretty excited!

And for those interested in Water Temps...it seems the combination of rain and wind have altered the temps at Murphy Park a bit......to the tune of 17 degrees.  Water Temp = 60 degrees this morning.  Get those wet suits ready...gonna be AWESOME!!!!
