Found the swim times on the main triathlon series news page. I am at 9:00:15. Lol....at least I can only be passed by 47 people. I'm #412

Hi Timothy, you are number 412 and start at 9:00:15 and you are not last!  My swim time is set at 1:24 or 84 seconds instead of 124 seconds.  Obviously I can't swim that fast with a motor attached to me.  I'll see if I can't be put at the end or I will just become a cheerleader for the rest of you.  I don't want to be holding everyone up in the pool, that would be stupid.

Bob

Thanks for looking that info up for
Me.

That is a fast swim time. You'll be passed on every wall touch. From what I read there isn't much you can do to change it. But it is worth the try. At least you won't have to wait a long time for the race to start.

Newdiz, I hear you on the transition practice. That's why I opted to do that at 5:30 this :-).

I plan to pick up my packet around 4:45 and then stay for the meeting. I am then considering taking my kids (7, 5, 2) to see the kids triathlon at 7:00.

Oh no!  I must have done something wrong.  I have number 55 and start at 7:17AM.  That can't be right!!!  I'm sure that when I registered it said that I put in 124 seconds per hundred.  That is 2:04 per hundred right?  I usually start about an hour after the first swimmers, closer to 8AM.  THis means that everyone will be swimming over me and cursing me as they do.  I'll need to wear a sign that says "Sorry, pass me at the wall".

bkwgator - What is your number??

Hi Bob, my daughter is starting 57,  I'll tell her to be nice as she passes you.  Laughing

I'm doing the family relay with my kids!

Hi Steve, since my time isn't important I'll just wait and go last.  However it will look funny when I have a 2 hour swim time!  I'd also be a hazard on the bike as so many people will have to pass me.  I really think that it is SETUP's error but that's just the way it is.

Based on their frequent "You should check your swim times every day to make sure everything is okay!" notices I'm guessing they'd just tell you that you should have checked what they had for you.

And that's what frustrates me, because I've tried half a dozen times to figure out HOW to verify my swim time and I can't figure it out. There's some 'how to' page I can usually get to that says something about going to the registration screen...but when I go there it just tells me, "You're already registered for this event."  And when I've sent an e-mail asking them about it, all I got back was, "The directions are online.  Just tell me what time you want and I'll change it."

Sorry for the hijack.  There's a decent chance there's a obvious button somewhere and I've just never managed to find it.

Anyway, Bob, do whatever you think appropriate.  If you decide to wait, hope it goes well, and sorry you won't have the official time you deserve.

Hi Bruce, my biggest mistake is that I registered late when you can no longer change your time.  I have followed the instructions before and did figure out how to change my swim time although I admit it wasn't easy.  If you have an account with SETUP Events you can login and there will be your upcoming races along with your swim times.  That's how I found out what time I was given to get such an early start.  At least it's not my "A" race for this year, that's the IOS White Lake International in September.  And I will register early and I don't need a swim time!!!!Wink

I'll be darned.  So I clicked login on SETUP, entered credentials, and immediately there was the race & submitted time.  I knew it had to be something stupid I was missing.  I kept reading about checking your swim time and clicking on registration to edit it, but when I clicked registration on the event pages that wasn't doing it.

Oh, well...at least now I know for next time.  Maybe Setup should add something along the lines of, "Step 1: Log into your Setup account," for the obvious-impaired like me.

And thanks!

Off to Charlotte this morning.  We're staying at the Courtyard in Ballantyne just off Johnson Road.  I expect to be at TrySports around 4:30PM.  Please say "Hi" if you see me.  My wife has friends in the area and that's why I do this race.  She gets to shop and I get to race.  Win-win!

Bob

Good luck to everyone tomorrow!  Looks like your weather will be good - should be relatively cool in the morning and rain's not expected until later in the day.

Thanks Patrick, btw all is well with my swim time.  The woman representative of SETUP Events stuck me in during a break in the action so I don't have to go last.  I still keep my number 55 which I will wear proudly and still rack my bike in slot 55.  By the time I go to get my bike everyone else in that rack will probably be finished with the race.  Nice meeting Timothy at Trysports tonight, hope to meet more of you tomorrow.

Bob - Look for me in transition spot #55 Smile

Nice meeting everyone today, hope you enjoyed it.  The swim was a typical pool swim, the bike went great until the Marvin Road hill and the run was too hot!  It's the White Lake International next for me.  See you around the circuit!

Well, got my first tri in the books, and I am sure there will be more in the future.  I had a lot of fun, and I am happy with my time.  At least I finished without drowning or falling of my bike.  Not sure when my next tri will be (definitely will do this again next year), but I am currently looking at the Thunder Road Marathon in November.

It was nice to meet you too, Bob.  Thanks for the race tips and sticking around to see me finish.  Felt like I had my dad there cheering me on.  You definitely helped keep my nerves calm.

I'll post my race report later tonight or tomorrow.

Good job, everyone.

Swim was fairly straight-forward, except for the "white whale" swimming on his back (!)

Bike course is pretty hilly, esp at the end of Marvin.  My quads were burning pretty much the whole time.  Lots of volunteers and PoPo on the course so that made it nice and smooth.  It was amusing to watch regular Saturday morning cyclists going the other way on the course, as we eye-balled each other.

Run was hot, no doubt.  I couldn't find a race gear so I ran a tempo pace and just hung on.  Lots of folks from our USA-Fit running group there to cheer us on, so that helped tremendously.
