Subject: Tight back and leg muscles after bike leg (Help)
It seems that every time I come off the bike  my back and legs are ultra tight thus causing a bad and painful run.  How can I remedy this?

I was haveing some lower back issues off the bike when I started out even though I had a proper fit done pretty much the same thing just tight and sore when starting into the run. These issues have vertually gone away as I worked on my Core strength  and now that  my overall bike fitness has improved .

Could be that you just need to get a bit stronger overall.

Have you ridden much in this position? Have you done long rides and have you done hard rides in it? Not just a few minutes, but the vast majority of the ride.

How often and how far are you running off the bike?

I would troubleshoot in this order:
1) Bike fit
2) Bike conditionoing without transitionor brick runs
3) introduce short transition runs of 10, then 20 minutes
4) after 4 weeks or more of the above, and at least 4 weeks before your first race, start gradually increasing the brick length

Lots of variables depending on your experience, distance your racing / training for, etc. But that should be agood start.

Thank you for the information.  I am more of a cyclist and have recently started Tri's.  I am still using a straight up road bike for the training and the races.

Thank you.
