Hi guys and gals,

First time poster on BT, Quick question for you.

I currently own a 2011 Specialized Allez Apex.

I have the opportunity to get a cheap 2008 Felt F4 frame and was wondering if it was worth it to transfer over my components to the Felt frame.

Main difference would be going from the E5 Aluminum to the Carbon of the Felt. So weight difference.

Are there any other significant differences? Any comment would be appreciated.

thanks!

The felt is also going to be a bit more aggressive in the front (lower stack) which may or may not be a good thing for YOU.

If you don't have any "problem" with and like the Allez I would not bother. An Allez (and aluminum in general) is perfectly good for racing.

That said, if you like the felt, it fits, and it's a good deal... I use this simple formula where Bikes owned = x

x+1=x

Thanks! The more aggressive front end shouldn't be too hard on me.Haha, the thing is its not really +1 as its just the Felt frame so I'd be moving over my components.

Personally I'd keep the Allez and save the bones for something else... maybe a tri bike down the road. That allez should treat you well for a long time.

I have to agree; Keep the Allez. Aluminum vs Carbon will be a 2% improvement while better training (periodization, or time spend training) will get you up to 10% improvement. For example, I had been at a plateau for 2 years (12-15 hours of training and 8% bodyfat) before learning about periodization. Within 2 months my strength improved 30% and no body weight gain. By the time I hit my next plateau, I improved my strength by 50%. Overtraining had caused my plateau.

Thanks for the opinions guys. I can get the Felt frame from a friend for $100, do I might just pick it up anyways and maybe build it up separately from my Allez.
