Hi all, it has been very quiet on this group and suspect that it is mostly due to crazy schedules. Mike and I have signed up to be mentors on BT for the new mentor session. Hope that once it goes live that you all will join us there. Here is the name of the group and once it goes live, I will be sure to let you know. "Clyde/Athena Tri-N-4- Weight Loss Mentor Group - Open". If you want to check it out, it is currently filed under the 2014 mentor staging thread. Hope to see you all there!

Chirunner, I hope that 2014 treats you better than 2013. First step is accomplished, you are still here on BT.

For now, our mentor group is still parked in the staging area which means it is not officially open for anyone to join. Once Ron moves it to the mentor thread it will officially be open and then anyone can reply to the thread to join the group. Once we have between 10-15 BT members, we will close to new members so that all of us can get to know each other and support each other through the winter mentor session and hopefully well beyond that.

Here is the info about the mentor program. http://beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid...

Click on this link then you can see our group is still in the staging area. http://beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/forum-view.asp?fid=...

I saw that there were a few new groups up today, but not yours. Are they just releasing a few at a time as others fill up?

Yes, they are trying to control the number of open groups. I looked this morning and saw that there is one more that signed up before us so I am thinking within another day or so we should be going live. I believe Ron is supposed to notify is when we do but figured you were in so no worries even if we fill up fast, We will always make room for our buddies here

I know my key for June (and other race possibilities) is to drop as much weight as possible especially in Jan, Feb Mar. My excess weight has really made me slow and help kill my endurance.

One thing I been working on is getting enough sleep which I was not even close to when I gained my weight. Then when I good at shifting my sleep pattern I can use that to get morning swimming in. I figure not to try to do both at the same time because it might be hard to keep it up. No point also if I will just be tired and overeat during the day.

Sleep is definitely a big key as is stress management to lose weight. I agree, getting your sleep pattern re-established should be the first step because I find that when I don't sleep well and am tired I definitely don't make good food choices and just crave carbs and junk all day long

exactly. I know lack of sleep is a big trigger for me. Not only do I over eat but I do not work out as much if at all so its a double wammy.

After new years my #1 goal is to lose weight no mater the cost. In other words if pure weight lifting will do it with my diet then that is what I will do. Weight lose will give me the speed and endurance I need. At this point I will be happy to run with people again by mid april. Then I will worry about endurance and such.
