Sunny
Total Time = 2h 27m 26s
Overall Rank = 47/71
Age Group = Clydes 200 40+
Age Group Rank = 1/1
Pre-race routine:

wake up at 330, protein shake around 415 and drive to race location while sipping fluids/carbs mix, got there at 545. Set transition and try to relax with other FTC members. Took my supplements at 630.
Event warmup:

some stretching and then swim to buoy
Swim
  • 17m 29s
  • 800 yards
  • 02m 11s / 100 yards
Comments:

just as it has recently happened, my swim sucked; although my time was not too off from avg 50 secs for 50 yards
What would you do differently?:

practice my swim more.
Transition 1
  • 01m 28s
Comments:

should be able to transition in about 30 secs, this included a long run from the beach
Bike
  • 55m 49s
  • 20 miles
  • 21.50 mile/hr
What would you do differently?:

start taking fluids earlier, I had to wait to the first turnaround as i was pushing hard and really couldn't stretch too much to the back
Transition 2
  • 01m 46s
What would you do differently?:

move a lot faster- got into the wrong line
Run
  • 1h 10m 51s
  • 6.3 miles
  • 11m 15s  min/mile
Comments:

started well b ut lost my wheels between miles 4 and 5, when Rick came by with his loud pace setter and disturbed my rhythm. i run the first loop but had to do the 1/2 mi run 30 sec walk (which eventually extended to 1 min walk), i must admit that the recent long runs at about 10 min pace REALLY helped - I was surprised that I didnt feel the harshness of not practicing bricks.
What would you do differently?:

continue running more consistently
Post race
Warm down:

stretching and waiting around - eventually got a real good massage

What limited your ability to perform faster:

losing my wheels on the run - need to do more intervals

Event comments:

Another great race organized by MultiRace, I wish they had better treats on the packet pickup bag and at race site.
