Thank you so much for posting! It's nice to see some activity on this thread Smile

I have been checking the weather and was glad to see lows in the low 60s but hadn't seen anything in the 50s, maybe a cool front is moving in. I was really hoping it would not be wetsuit legal since I am in Houston and won't have a chance to practice in my suit.  Anybody know if we will have a chance to practice at the Lake?

As of this morning, water temp is now 76 degrees.  That makes the race wetsuit legal, at this point.  The weather forecast is bouncing all over the place but it looks like it should be a nice day on Sunday.

Also, I did this event last year and since we have to have our bikes checked in on Saturday there was a ton of time available to jump in the water on Saturday.  In fact, I saw several people swimming both in and out of wetsuits.  That would be the best time to practice, if you ask me.

Sounds like perfect weather for my first OLY...can't ask for a better race to try!

A buddy and I are staying in CLIVE.  Is that a decent location?  Where should we park morning of the race?

Bummer. I don't get much practice in a wetsuit and much prefer swimming without one but if the field is wearing them it makes sense for me to.

Good to know we'll be able to get some practice in.

Congratulations on Pigman by the way. I know your run was rough but you had a great race!

Check out the website for parking.  Clive is fine.  Just give yourself a minute or two extra to drive in.  When you come off the exit, you will be directed to a parking lot that is the size of 3 football fields.  Plenty of parking but a long walk to transition.  Don't plan on hurrying back to your car if you forget something unless you are looking for a nice warmup run..  Smile

Pros are swimming at Greys Lake now.  2 loop course. Not sure of the exact route for the bike but the RD says only slightly altered.  I believe this means two transition areas: 1. by the Lake 2. by the Capital.  Should be a great race.

It's supposed to be really hot in DM on Thursday and Friday with a cool down on Saturday including rain.  Last year it poured during bike check in and the transition area was a "Mud Run" on Sunday.  Maybe the same thing this year?!?!?

Temp on Monday was 76 degrees.  Days are getting shorter and temps are dropping into low 60s over night.  I'm betting 50-50 for wetsuit legal.

I will bring the wetsuit and pray it's not legal, sorry kids, just not a fan of my body suffocating in neoprene.

Anybody else kind of freaking out? This is my first destination race.  Packing tonight leaving early tomorrow driving straight through from Houston.

It would be nice to meet up the night before maybe for dinner? I will be there with husband and 3 kids ages 10, 8 & 5.

I could go either or on the wetsuit, not a big issue for me as both have some pros and cons for me. I'm usually a FOP swimmer, but that might all change racing the championship event.

This will be my first race that's more than an hour away from my doorstep, at a venue that is unknown. I'm not sure when I'll be rolling into town on Saturday (I have some college football to watch/listen to on the radio). Good luck to everyone if I don't bump into any of you.

79 degrees this morning.  Lows overnight tonight and tomorrow night expected in the mid to upper 60s.  I bet we are wet suit legal.

Travel safe everyone and have a great event!

At the athlete meeting today they said the temp was 81 and not expect wetsuit legal but be prepared. I swam part of Grays Lake today where the beach is, I'd say cooler than 80 but some patches are warm. I was surprised how shallow the water was, is the whole lake shallow?

I'm not going to be in contention to place anyway...wetsuit more than likely for me!

Anyone ride the course yet?

We are still in a major drought.  I didn't participate this year I was a spectator for only the women's elite and the water level looked like it was down at least 4 feet from normal.
