I'm signed up... Harv how far is this from your place?

I know Dan rented a cabin there last year, Dan what were those called? I might need to pick one up since the drive down in the AM is rough.

Im thinking of getting a hotel in Madison for the night on Friday, making the AM drive only an hour or so. Or I could just HTFU and drive in the AM, as miserable as it sounds.

I am not racing Elberton this year due to IMLOU, but I have raced it many times as I do live pretty close to Elberton.  Last year I rented a cabin for Saturday night and it worked out well.  They still may have cabins available, and you can check on this on the Georgia State Parks website.  Cabins 11-17 are fairly new, and cabins 18-20 are only a year old.

Shanks,

The cabins right in the park are awesome!  You just go right to the Ga Parks website.  They are supercheap too.  Highly recommended.

Daniel,

I think that Jason I is renting one of the cabins.  Get ahold of him perhaps.

I'm crashing at the Cortjens cabin (~30' away).

This thread kinda died down even though the race is this coming weekend.

Anyone have any tips or tricks for this course in particular? This is my first time at RBR and my first Olympic in 2 years, so I am kinda racing blind on Saturday. Race reports are great, but anyone have a more condensed version?

Watch out for speeding traps the morning of. I got nailed for a ticket.

The nutshell from me is its a longer 2 loop lake swim (for me) where you get out and flop back in! I felt like it never ended but y'all know about how I swim.

you run a decent 50-100 yards to your bike in T1 then climb out of transition and then out of the park. Gear it on the rack accordingly. The course is a big loop which rolls somewhat like Tugaloo. It flattens in places and those are good places to get some time but just bear in mind the humidity and heat (and true swim) may reduce your bike split. Down the climb takes you fast back into transition.

Then off through some woods for a short patch (where you may see a ghost who hollars out for you to stop lollygagging) and you go along tarmac alongside the golf course for a double out and back where you get to see your fellow triathletes twice sometimes. Cheer and hoot for whoever looks down. The fasties don't need it as much.

There is not much shade so wear a light hat or visor and keep core temps down if possible (don't recall much ice on course). It undulates ever so slightly but enough to keep your cardio challenged. The finish is downhill. Sprint the finish!

Afterwards, be thankful you get to do this thing of ours. Many wish they could.

Hit me back. I do believe my rr has the bike elevation profile.
