Subject: Pop-up camper
We have searched everywhere for the answer to our problem, so I decided to try here. We just bought an old cheap pop-up camper and are looking for a solution to bring the bikes with us (a fairly cheap solution since the whole popup was only $700, I don't want to spend a lot on a bike rack for it!). We have been putting the bikes in the truck, but it is a tight fit along with the BBQ and the bags and stuff. The pop-up does not have the standard size trailer bumper on the back to mount stuff on and it does not have any spare tire mount on the back to mount stuff on. We have looked into a couple of ways to mount the bikes to the top of the pop-up, but just haven't found anything that seemed very secure. Any ideas??

It would require some fabrication and a little creativity to secure the rear wheels, but you could probably make something like this work directly on top of the camper... I've been thinking about this, too.

My neighbor bolted a couple of these right to the fibreglass top on his pop-up tent trailer.

Two of them were well under $100, and you don't have to take the front wheels off to secure the bike to the rack.

You could spend a bit more and bolt some cross-bars onto the top, then you can mount bike racks, kayak racks, etc. on there instead of just bike racks.

You could also mount a above the bed mounting system for your truck bed. I have seen people with ATV mounted on a abouve the bed platform so they could put all the extra stuff in the bed. To Keep it simple I would use a plywood cover with a bike rack mounted to it.
