Pre-race routine:

Didn't taper much since this was a "fun" type of race. Spinning class Friday morning, along with 15 minutes on the treadmill. Drove up morning of the race, had an apple fritter and coffee on the way up. Set up in transition, (ALMOST GOT SHOES ON WRONG PEDALS)
Event warmup:

Had a chance to some swimming before the start, unfortunately bumped into someone; literally a head-on crash.
Swim
  • 06m 43s
  • 440 yards
  • 01m 32s / 100 yards
Transition 1
  • 00m 51s
Comments:

Part of the goal of this race was to work on the "flying" mount, with shoes clipped in. While it wasn't a running flying mount, it was a great improvement over my previous standing mounts. The one problem with this race was that the first section of the ride was all uphill.
Bike
  • 50m 24s
  • 16.2 miles
  • 19.29 mile/hr
Comments:

This course has some CLIMBS. Most intersections had fire police/traffic control, with a couple exceptions.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe push a little harder.
Transition 2
  • 00m 46s
Comments:

Ran one lane too far, but racked bike from the other side. Not a big deal, especially since there were only a few of us in transition at the time. successful dismount, getting out of shoes and jumping off bike. Not quite flying, but a big improvement for me.
Run
  • 14m 53s
  • 2.3 miles
  • 06m 28s  min/mile
Comments:

I was pretty blown out from the bike, but pushed through. The start of the run was uphill.
What would you do differently?:

More deals with myself. I thought I was around 5th place overall, so I was generally happy with that. Didn't completely push it. Turns out someone ahead of me incurred a 2 minute penalty, which put him 38 seconds ahead of me. I didn't have anyone up ahead who I could catch, and no one chasing me. If I had pushed harder, so get 38 seconds faster, that would have meant 4th, and 1st in AG. So I need to just push as hard as possible, regardless of who I see around me.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Maybe spin class on Friday, and possibly sleep

Event comments:

This is a pretty hilly course, both bike and run.
