Does anyone know if there is athlete tracking available at this race?  My wife is not traveling with but would like to know how things are going.  I also have a few training buddies that asked about live tracking.  Any info would be greatly appreciated.

PS - 1 week until I leave for NOLA!!! Can't wait!!!

There will be tracking when your chip crosses the timing mats.  End of swim, T1, a few on the bike, T2, a few on the run, fisnish.  If you want live stalking every second kind of tracking, go with myathletelive.com

IM will have live results on race day with various splits.  I'm re-launching an application I wrote that will automatically send Facebook updates, Twitter updates, text message updates and email updates of the splits during your race.  In the past I also created a page that would list all of the BT members participating and their splits consolidated on one page. I had previously shut it down because IM claimed they were going to offer a similar option but I've yet to see it so I'm re-launching. If interested the site to signup is in my signature.

Weather.com says 77 for the high and 61 for the low. http://www.weather.com/weather/tenday/New+Orleans+LA+USLA0338:1:US<... is decent. A few showers aren't a big deal as long as it is not for extended periods.

Anyone know a good site to see the water temperature? It shouldn't change that much over a week I presume.

I'm trying to ignore your weather posts. Don't want to get my hopes up for a mild day. 69* water temp today.

http://www.tide-forecast.com/locations/New-Canal-USCG-station-Lake-Pontchartrain-Louisiana/forecasts/latest

Thanks for posting about the athlete tracking. Can I specify who I want it to go to by text? Or is it only a FB post and mass tweet?

Are you talking about the myathletelive tracking I posted?  If so, it is public.  Friends can download the app and track you.  Or, sit in front of a computer and track you.  There are couple of events this weekend to see how it works.  Ironman South Africa and Boston Marathon.  Click them for links.

myracedaytracker.com I will have to look at the other one that you posted. I just wanted something that would text to my husband so he would know where I was on the course.

I am reading the Athlete Guide. Where did you guys find the swim start times? I thought someone posted and my wave (women 40+) was early. It's actually wave 12 unless I'm reading the wrong info. Crap!

Odpaul, please don't mow me down. LOL, jk. I'm a decent swimmer so if I can get in the front of my wave I may have enough of a headstart to make it out before you.

I wonder how that have everyone lining up in each age group.  Will it be by age in the specific age group , or will it be however we line up in the corral.  If that's the case, I am gettin in front of the line..

If you go to the race homepage there is a tab to click for "Live Results". It takes you to a page called "Race Results 360". There is even an app for it.

I think you can also do live tracking from the Ironman.com website that gives you detailed splits.

I realize "some people" have to start later than others -that's just the way it is logistically. You would think I would be more heat tolerant living in the south, but it doesn't matter what I do to adapt... I still melt. I will probably ditch the wetsuit since I don't want to get too hot and start dehydrating before I even hit the bike. I'm trying not to be a whiner that I will be the one sitting around from the time transition closes at 6:30 until whenever and then I'll be running at the peak of heat. Yesterday it was 78* when I finished a brick. It was HOT. Sooo not ready for summer heat!

You are not the only one.  People (slower racers) will start before you and still will be running in the heat.

Any chance for a BT get together prior to the race?  I'll be arriving Friday afternoon, hope to take in some of the city that night before resting up on Saturday.

Marie: I know you will be suffering in the afternoon temps. We've had a fast warm up here and I'm just not ready for the heat and hunidity of summer. Winter was nice while it lasted!
