Total Time = 00m
Overall Rank = 117/173
Age Group = 25-29F
Age Group Rank = 9/18
Pre-race routine:

woke up at 7, had breakfast (1/ grapefruit, bagle with cream cheese and water) packed the car and headed to the race site.
Event warmup:

did a short run, thought about getting into the water but it was soooo bloody windy and cold that I opted not to do a swim warm up.
Swim
  • 10m 33s
  • 500 meters
  • 02m 07s / 100 meters
Comments:

good swim overall, pretty much what I estimated my time would be. Could have gone harder.
What would you do differently?:

Put myself closer to the front of the wave and have more confidence in my swimming abilities. I was having to make up a lot of time by swimming through some of the weaker swimmers.
Transition 1
  • 01m 37s
Comments:

had to put on a lot of clothing, but everything went smoothly. My bf yelled out "good transition" and I just shook my head and carried on getting geared up. Was super nice to hear his voice though, and gave me a bit of comic releif.
What would you do differently?:

not have to put on shorts and a shirt... invest in a tri suit.
Bike
  • 42m 28s
  • 18 kms
  • 25.43 km/hr
Comments:

I need to ride my bike more. A lot more. I got passed by so many people. I found the course very challenging and I was feeling pretty down after the first 5-10km. It was intimidating.
What would you do differently?:

train more.
Transition 2
  • 00m 33s
Comments:

no comment
What would you do differently?:

nothing, it was good.
Run
  • 26m 28s
  • 4 kms
  • 06m 37s  min/km
Comments:

slow and steady. started out kinda fast, my HR went way way up so I slowed down got to a pace that I could hold for the distance and just had a good run. My younger sister was at the 2km point and it was a nice surprise to have a chat with her as I went past.
What would you do differently?:

more training.
Post race
Warm down:

walked around a little, had a few cups of water, little photo shoot with my supportive fans (family that I dragged along) got in line for my free food, walked backto the car, packed up and went out for lunch.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

poor bike and run training.
