I hope the heat and humidity go down for you guys! You have 11 or so days left to pray for coolness :-)

ETA: Like other lakes, the wetsuit-legalness of White Lake depends a lot on the weather leading up to it but since it is so shallow a few hot or cold days/nights can really affect the water temps. So be prepared for anything.

Boy, the heat was pretty bad today...I really hope it kicks it down a few degrees...or twenty, before then!

Also, just read a few of the race reports you ppl posted there. I think I'm ready! RAWR!

I'm in. Doing this as a tune-up for FS Series Half. This will be the first race of the season for me, haha.

Two of my daughter's are doing Dash for Divas the next day. I might do that one too, or maybe just cheer them on...haven't yet decided.

Hope we have nice weather as we're making a nice weekend vacation out of it. That' the part I am most excited about - vacation!!

White Lake Water Temp as of September 1st, 2012: 82 degrees...

Looks like this race is not going to be wetsuit legal....

Bummer.

I'd still bring your wetsuit, just in case the RD or crew can find a cool spot, but i'd think the temp is not going to change much by Saturday...

Depends on what time of day that water temp was taken.  Could easily go +/- 4 degrees between 8am and 3pm.  Now if that was taken in the morning, no, not much luck getting to 78, especially with the redonculas humidity we are having right now.

Agreed. I looked at the predicted overnight lows- 70 or so for every night, so that wont really pull the water temp down very much at all. Pray for lots of rain on Friday and it might help things :-)

I'll be there this weekend.

Just looked at the hourly forecast on Weather.com and they list 7 am on Saturday as sunny, 71 F and 100% humidity - yuck!

Good luck all.

I'm doing the race satruday, bib 363. My three daughters are doing Dash for Divas on Sunday. Can't wait. I have to confess I am glad to not have to deal with wetsuit. So much to pack for four of us!

Hot is not fun, but at least looks like no t-storms.

Congrats to Greg, SCI, and all the rest of the participants. That was a tough race today. The heat really kicked in after 10!

The swim seemed long, the bike was great (but windy!), and the run was hot, hot, hot!

Liked the race, but DID NOT like Camp Clearwater...we were there for two nights and decided not to spend another night.

I didn't have any internet or phone service, so am just now getting back online. i did okay, but not great. swim was long. went out too hard on bike and faded in the last half, which was harder anyway due to winds. my running is bad now, and add heat to that and not so good. i stayed super positive, tho, and cheered on everyone i passed during the run. well, except the last two miles, i was in my own heat/pain cave and just suffered through it.

I wasn't crazy about my accomodations either. tarheel cottages. way overpriced for a dinky little kinda icky place.

next year, i want to plan better and stay in one of the cabins at the race site. it's so pretty in that spot, and my girls really enjoyed the dash for divas race on sunday.

oh, funny story - i got bit by a fish while waiting for my wave to start. that really hurt. still have a welt there. it bit me right in the middle of the 9 in 49 on my leg. i wonder if it thought that was a barnacle or something???

sorry i didn't see anyone out there....congrats to all!

I know one Garmin had the swim at .99 miles.  Does not take in account the possibility of swimming off course though.
