Anyone have any secrets to keeping your water cold? Any special insulated bottles, etc. I have tried to freeze my water bottles before I ride, but it still does not last long on a 95 degree Georgia summer day. I never want the water after it heats up. I usually end up just pouring on my head. Any ideas?

Polar Bottle. Half ice, half liquid, will still be cool after a 30-miler.

Also, if you freeze the insultated bottle with water in it, the night before, it will keep cool for a good 2-3 hours.

But, DO NOT fill the bottle TO THE TOP. Leave a good inch or so for the water to freeze and expand.

I have a polar bottle and don't really like it.  It's really hard to squeeze while you're riding since the bottle is much thicker due to the insulation.  Also, my bottom lip gets caught by the top when I drink out of it and gets pinched.  Maybe I have a bad bottle, but I don't like using it when I ride.  Does anyone else have these problems??

Maybe I have a defective Polar water bottle, but I find that it barely keeps water cold past an hour. Even with freezing it the night before.

I will say that my 24 oz lasts longer than my 20 oz (? smaller size oz's?). But my 24 oz if completely frozen... really does last. Not as long as ice in the Camelbac, but it does last a good time.

In the end though... it's still better than just the plan plastic water bottles.

That's what I said: a 30-miler.

Cool

Seriously, half ice cubes, half liquid, after my one-hour weekday ride I'll still have ice in the bottle. Half hour or so later it's still cool. This is in 95-degree south Louisiana evenings.

I thought it was hard to squeeze too so I sort of sucked it instead.  I don't remember if my lips got pinched, I lost it sometime after my tri last summer.   I did like it though and will probably get another one at some point.

Make sure you drink the whole bottle before it gets warm.  If you are riding in 95 degree heat, you should be drinking a full 20 oz bottle in one hour.  If you are drinking less you are going to dehydrate.

When I go for long rides in the summer I carry 2x20 oz bottles, I generally finish one and about half the other in 60 minutes.  I will stop and refill both once I get someplace where I can get cold water.  Many of my summer rides have lasted 4-5 hours, and I find I am still wanting more to drink.
