I am probably average size 5'9 150lbs. Im looking at HR monitors and HR monitors with GPS and the ones with GPS seem HUGE to me to have on training and racing. I have always tried to train with minimal items, a timex watch, armbanded smartphone for tunes ironically gps and as little clothing as i can get away with. Who has uses a GPS monitor, how do you like the size or adapt to the size on your wrist training, who perfers a more standard size HR monitor
I think everyone would like a normal size watch, but that is hard to find with GPS. The 910xt by Garmin is pretty close and really doesn't seem that big. I'm 5'6" and 150, and it's not a problem. They are light and you don't really notice them.
Both my wife and I have used a Garmin 305. She's got tiny wrists, but the QR strap does the trick. Once you get moving, you don't even notice you're wearing it. I recently switched over to the 910xt. It's close enough to watch-like where I could wear it as a regular watch from time to time without drawing attention to myself. It even fits nicely under the arm of my wetsuit.
