While in the swim start line, someone suggested to me that it is the time of year. School is starting all across the country and athlete's are busy dealing with this. There is no reason I could think of otherwise that I would shy away from this event.

Seriously...Is there a better finish line than Louisville?

Anyone know if the pics are up at finisherpix? I got an email saying they were (from Ironman) and when going to the website couldn't find anything.
Had a good day. Was hoping to break 13, and went 13:36. Very happy considering the conditions.

What an event. I am still smiling and flying high after that finish. I am sure I made an idiot of myself, but dont care.
It was definitely a long and tough day out there, but we knew that would be the case.

Congrats to all. Hope recovery is going well.

Oh...BTW, finish pics are now available.......

That was an amazing experience. Things really could not have gone better for me. I didn't even feel the heat until mile 22 of the run. Everything just clicked on race day. That was AWESOME! My first Ironman, now I'm hooked!

Does anyone know if Ironman is going to put up Louisville videos on YouTube? They've already uploaded A TON from Ironman Canada, but nothing from Louisville.

I survived many, many hours on the trainer last winter watching the Full Circle videos to stay motivated. I would be very disappointed if they have nothing from IMLOU.

What an amazing experience for my first Ironman. I finished in 15:49. Legs just didn't want to go on the run.

Here is a link to my race report.

Congrats to all the finishers out there! I hope the recovery has gone well for everyone. Not sure about everyone else, but I'm still enjoying the 'eat/drink whatever I want and sit on the couch" phase of Ironman. What an awesome day.

congrats to all finishers.

Has anyone been able to access their finshers videos? I got the email but the link in the email for the videos goes to IM texas pics. My pics have been posted for weeks but I would love to see the videos also.

Thanks.

I found mine at this link. You can skip in about 8 minute increments to your finish time based on a 7am starting clock I believe. Cumbersome, but it works.

Anyone know if WTC reports the results to the USAT? I only see a few 70.3 races listed from Ironman.

I'm considering IMLou for my first.

Does this race sell out? I can see now that registration is open, but I'm not sure I'm 100% ready to reg just yet ;-)

Thoughts?

You have plenty of time. Every year it takes longer and longer to sell out. This year it didn't sell out until 2 weeks before the race

Even though it probably won't sell out until just before the race, I would definitely recommend this race! It was my first Ironman and it was just awesome. I had a bit of advantage because I'm in Central Florida and was able to train in the heat, so the heat on race day didn't bother me at all as I heard it did other people. I still think it's an awesome venue, great course if you can prepare for a challenging bike (I am a flat lander but still was able to prepare enough to do well on the bike), and incredibly well organized. Finish line is spectacular. Can't say enough good things about this race.

Here's my race report from my blog...warning, it's VERY long.

Here's a 7 minute slide show my uncle put together about my race:

Good luck in your decision, but I think you'll find most everyone on this forum agrees that it is a great race.

I'm in Gainesville Florida. I am also expecting to be more acclimated to the heat factor there.
I actually love this time of year!

Thanks for sharing your race report.

Have a great weekend!

This was mine and one of my training partners first IM race. Our coach also raced with us. Another friend who spent the summer training alongside us (for IM Wisconsin) came to Louisville to support us. He shot some great video of the race. Here is his final cut. Hope it's ok to post this link.

Anyone doing this race in 2014? I plan to be there after unsuccessfully trying to register for IMAZ online!

This was my exact situation in 2012.
I won't be back next year, I'm taking a year or 2 off from full IM.

I am a little concerned about the hills. I train in South Louisiana on the flattest terrain imaginable. I need to figure out a way to simulate hills. Anyone else coming from a flat area?
