Welcome aboard. Had a very similar run same temps, same day, 12 miles on trail. Tried to get as much hills in as possible. I wish I had some sustained climbs, but I try make do with what I have. Managed 1800 ft elevation gain (according to Garmin).

The trails had a nice coating of snow and I met my goal of not falling once!

#808- 8 mi (was very cold, but I was actually overdressed!)
#809- 5 mi (treadmill)
#810- 7 mi
#811- 12 mi trail run est. 1800ft elevation gain
#812- 4.6 mi (treadmill)

Day 15, 19.5 miles.

69.2 miles for the week, it sure feels good to have the weekly mileage up again.

Nice!

48 miles for the week. Building my mileage back up and I feel great. No residual fatigue day to day. Unfortunately I still have a few tendon aches that haven't disappeared (left knee/ankle). But that said, I had a good few weeks of recovery, and overall physically I feel more than ready to jump back into some more challenging training.

I'd like to hit 60 mpw by the end of the month, which shouldn't be too tough as I build my long run back up. Still waiting on the Leadville lottery results, hopefully will be out this week, then I will have a more clear picture of my training.

I'd like to get in in the 80s mpw for my Boston peak by early April regardless, but HOW I run those miles will depend on my overall race schedule.

Friday - #530 - 4 miles plus 1 hour bike
Saturday - #531 - 4 miles plus 90 minute bike
Sunday - #532 - 2 miles, then in the late afternoon I went out to ride my fat tire bike on the snow/mush covered sidewalks...holy cow was that a tough workout in some spots. I am still getting used to riding on that bike. I think I need to lower my tire pressure to get a little more traction. Fun though!

Day 17, 10.2 miles @ 6:58 pace. Feeling real good right now, the rest I had getting over my injury has really seemed to help my speed. I hope I can build on this and it was not an aberration today.

Not sure about that beast thing, just putting in the time plus this was on a treadmill so I would be a little slower on the street.

Still a fast run either way. And you jumped from 30-40 mpw to 70, and probably more this week. Even though the 30-40 was recovery, I'd expect a touch of fatigue after the layoff with that much of an increase. Nice job.

#813- 10 mi, cold hard rain outside so I decided to run on treadmill. I did 100 feet of elevation gain for the first quarter mile, then 3% decline for 0.5 to 0.75 of each mile.
#814- 4 mi
#815- 10.4 mi - took a field trip. Found some trails I haven't run about 45 min drive from my house and got some decent running on them. I'm going to try to head out there once per week if I can, its probably the best I can do for something challenging without having to drive 2+ hours. According to Garmin I got 1700ft of gain. I really would like to hit 2000ft per 10 miles, since that is roughly the ratio of gain per 10 miles for some of the tougher mountainous ultras. Its gonna be tough, that's alot of climbing!

I had mentioned awhile back, probably quite awhile back, that my wife had started her own streak. She hit 1 year today. I don't see her stopping anytime soon.

Here is today's run topography:

You've really only missed a handful of runs in the last two years or so. You've had quite a few streaks. A 50 miler should definitely be in the cards for you this year if you want to do it. Just register for one and then you'll have no choice!

Congrats to your wife, that is great. Do you run together a bit? I do not have to travel far to get that kind of climbing per 10 miles, I live in an area with hill all around me and yes that is a lot climbing but it makes you a stronger runner.

I am waiting for the fatigue to set in but it hasn't yet. I am following Pfitz's 50-70 schedule and adding a few extra miles like it needs it. We are probably on the same training schedule, not sure what one you are following but my marathon is the day before Boston.

Day 19, 5.5 recovery paced miles.

Monday - #533 - 4 miles easy and then an hour on the bike trainer

Tuesday - #534 - 4 miles speed work (first real speed work for a while) and then an awful 1000m in the pool. I'm 0:15 per 100m slower than I should be right now. Part of it was just being the first day back in the water for basically a couple of months, part of it was being a bit wiped out from the speed work, and part of it was just feeling like I was getting absolutely *nothing* out of my pull. Frustrating. Lots of work to do there, but I just don't love swimming anymore. I've done way too much of it in my lifetime.

Wednesday - #535 - 4 miles easy, and then 1:03 on the bike trainer

I got two pairs of wireless bluetooth headphones for Christmas. One pair is the Jaybird Bluebird X, which are the earbud style, which I have paired up with my iPod for running (indoors and outdoors) as well as maybe some biking. The other pair are the Parrot Zik 2.0 headphones, which have active noise cancellation technolgy, so it cancels out external noise. I can bluetooth connect these to my iPad or even to my TV system through a little adapter that I bought. This allows me to watch TV on my 55" while riding my bike on the trainer and not have to blast the TV / surround system to hear the conversations over the noise of my trainer. I absolutely could not be happier with either set of headphones, although the fully covered ears does lead to a sweaty headset when on the bike trainer. Highly recommended to anyone who is looking for a good solution for wireless headphones!
