We rarely run together. Someone needs to be at home with the kids. We have gotten out on occasion though.

I am 13 weeks out (and one day) from Boston. I was planning on jumping into Pfitz's 55-70 for the 12 week plan with a few modifications. More trail running and probably a few more miles. I did this plan in 2013 and it worked better for me than the plan I had for NYC where I did a shortened Hanson's type plan. The harder running in the Hanson's plan coming off the IM beat me up too much. I am not convinced that less miles but more "quality" is better than more miles with some "quality." I really don't know what is better, but I think my body seems to prefer the latter.

#816- 4 mi
#817- 8 mi progression
#818- 6.2 mi
#819-8 mi progression

50.2 mi for the week. Could have run more this weekend had I not been working both days. And tomorrow I am most likely looking at a double shift.

I forgot to mention, I did not get into Leadville, Lotteries never work out for me. But eventually one will. I am now in the lottery for the Cascade Crest 100. Looks tough but it looks like an awesome course. If this doesn't work out, I'm considering the Grindstone 100. I'm looking to really push my limits. If I am going in, I want to go all in.

Look into the Yellowstone-Teton 100 miler in September. I believe I am going to run that one this year.

The small one .  Not sure the weight, but about 12 servings at 190kcal a pop! I can't keep the large jars around.

I've looked at that one, its around the right time of year that I am looking at. I've been to the Yellowstone area once in my teens, and it was amazing. I'll keep it on the radar. The landscape/views is one of the deciding factors. I've been trying to get into the bigger "more popular" events, since its my first and I want an established event with lots of info out there, and a well marked and well supported course. And it also won't hurt to have more participants. I will probably have my wife crew, but depending on her work schedule, I may be doing it alone, and I won't have a pacer either way. At this point, I'm waiting out another lottery, and then I'll go from there.

#820- 2 mile early morning. Had a long day of work and getting home at 10:30 pm is cutting it too close for comfort.
#821- 11 mi

I guess that break did do you good, another fast run. Seems less of a fluke since you are keeping it up. And if you are like me, that first mile or two always drags down the average pace of the run.

Day 25, 9.2 miles. Heading for the airport at about 2 am to fly to Florida for a long weekend and my son's wedding. It'll be nice to get some warm weather runs in for a few days. I was suppose to run 12 miles today but I just do not have the time, I got done what I could.

Back up to run #26

Heading to Florida next Monday for a week. Even though it hasn't been as cold as last year, going to feel great running in shorts again.

Taking a lighter week, just planning on a 7-8 miler tomorrow and a 13-14 miler on Saturday.

I am also going to get back in the pool today! It's been over a year since I have swam. Should prove to be interesting.

#334 - 3.0
#335 - 3.7
#336 - 2.6
#337 - 1.4
#338 - 1.6
#339 - 3.0

I've had a few "check the box" runs in the last week, partly due to my own exhaustion and partly due to time constraints and some crappy road conditions. I'm glad to be back in Maryland. My parents' neighborhood in Morgantown, where I've spent the past few weeks, is bounded by some pretty significant roads that I didn't feel safe or motivated to cross with the puppy. Consequently, I got pretty tired of running through Suncrest to Krepp's Park and back through Star City, only to complete the reverse for "variety" the next day. I'm hoping to get out and hit some trails this weekend, rain and snow be damned.

Are there now seven of us active in this group now? Frickin' sweet.

#821- 11 mi
#822- 15.6 mi, about 2500 ft elev. gain. - trail run. Got a bit lost, was only planning on 14 but I had to actually leave the park and run around the perimeter to get back to where I parked. I didn't realize the end of the park was a peninsula, and thought that the water should have only been on the east side, so it really threw my direction sense for a loop. I kept thinking I was running north, and I was actually looping back down to the south. It was midday, so the sun wasn't helping. Last time I went out, I brought my phone, this time I forgot it.
#823- 4.5 mi
#824-6.2 mi
#825- 10 mi - slush-fest outside. Decided to run on the treadmill.

Have fun to those in Florida, I can't say I'm not jealous. And Ron, congrats on your son's wedding.

Brad, nice job on the bike lately. I have to stop making excuses and get at least SOME riding in.

#826- 8 mi progression. Last half of the run in the 6:30-6:50 min/mi range. Its been awhile since I've run faster, and felt pretty good considering. I really wasn't sucking wind (not too bad at least!), and my legs felt pretty strong, perhaps all the hill/trail work is paying off. Still hoping for a sub-3 at Boston.

Thursday - #543 - 4 miles progression run, 1500y in the pool, and then 90 minutes on the bike
Friday - #544 - 4 miles easy, then a brutal 70 minute trainer road session
Saturday - #545 - 2 miles following a 2 hour easy bike
Sunday - #546 - 2 miles in the morning, and then 90 minutes on the bike in the evening

Rich - I'm working pretty hard on improving my bike fitness this year. I'm good (for my level) on the bike, but not great, and I think I might be able to gain some ground on my competition easier there than on the run (which I am also trying to improve). I'm following the trainer road high volume 40K time trial program, but skipping most of the easy spin out rides in favor of running or swimming. Hopefully it'll all pay off!!!
