I made it! and I think I'll keep going!

I really like mrheathen's idea of running everyday until you raise a certain amount of Money. Maybe I'll start my own campaign.

I really believe that if you carry a smartphone when you run or bike and you aren't using Charity Miles, you're lighting on fire money that could be going to charity. The newest version even works indoors. I haven't done as much fundraising as last time, but I've also decided not to stop when I get to $1000.

#349 - 2.2
#350 - 2.4
#351a and #351b - 2.4 and 2.0 - I had a training scheduled about a mile from home, so I walked there, found the training was cancelled, and ran the long way home. I did a little yoga when I got home and found shavasannzzzzzzzzzz.
#352 - 3.2 - The dog and I both pooped at the golf course this morning.

Wednesday - #556 - 4 miles after 2000y in the pool...then went home and did a tough bike session.

My legs are toast this morning, and I have a tempo run scheduled for tonight. Not going to be fun! I wish I would've not taken a break from swimming. I've lost so much ground from where I was. I know I'll get it back rather quickly, but it is incredibly frustrating.

I've pretty much only been running since September.

I'm "taking some time off" from triathlon and focusing on running, but I really don't intend to not go back. I feel at this point I'd almost be starting at ground zero. I keep saying I'll get back, but one of the major driving forces behind my training is the events I schedule, and I'm only registered for Boston now. I'd like to see how my running goes and hopefully get an Oly on schedule this summer. Not sure though since the one I plan to do would be right in the middle of training for the 100 I plan to do.

I would like to work some swim/bike in as crosstraining but I don't want it to interfere with my running recovery...etc... I just keep mulling it over and then eventually get back and really be sorry I didn't start back sooner.

Feeling great running though!

#835- 2 mi
#836- 15 mi trail. Had a blast. Temps went up 20 degrees and I had some nice thaw going at the end. Felt like a slalom going downhill with the snow. I think I covered just about every type of terrain on that run. Had ice, snow, slush, mud, dirt, rocks, roots, and more! There are some days that running is about training, or keeping the streak/just getting it done, but this run was just pure fun. I couldn't think of anything else I'd rather have been doing.
#837- 5 mi. Was going to do recovery pace. Even though yesterday was fun, it took something out of me. I was tired! But felt good by the afternoon and ended up doing a progression to marathon pace.

Going to check this out. I had some decent miles last year and wish I would have started sooner. But I guess better late than never. I really never carry my phone, but I can probably figure something out.

Welcome aboard. Its fun, and addicting. With the 800+ day streak I got going, there were plenty of runs that I didn't want to go out on, but very few (if any) that I regretted when I got back.

ImSore, I won't be running any 800 days thats for sure lol!

Working on durability leading up to IMCHOO. This is one step in my training program. I don't think I've ever run that many days consecutively. Hoping these old bones hold up!

Had a great vo2max ride pre run. Me happy!

I have not run since last Sunday. My left heal has been bothering me since I ran the 50k in December and it has been getting progressively worse. It is fine when I first get up but the more I am on it during the day the more it hurts and then when I run it is very tender to touch on the forward part of my heal near the arch of the foot. I guess I need to see the Doctor this week about it, it is feeling a bit better without running but it is still an issue and I am not going to let it get real bad like I did with my hip last year. I was having some great training for my marathon. I am hoping to still run it though, even if I can only train for about 8 weeks I feel with my base I can still pull off a sub 3:20 if I have a good 8 weeks of training. Not liking this getting hurt stuff, I guess all those mile finally are catching up to this old body.

Saturday - #559 - 4 miles and then 2 hours on the bike
Sunday - #560 - 76 minutes on the bike, 50 of them essentially at FTP, and then a 2 mile run outdoors

#36 - 1.2 miles at 11pm. Both kids are sick and I was a bit under the weather myself. 1.2 miles might not seem like much but it was an accomplishment for me that day.

#37 - 1.3 miles Went to a mountain bike event and planned to do a 4-5 mile run after our ride. Found out I didn't bring my running shoes and ran in my hiking boots.

#38 - 6.3 miles Great run with my buddy Alex at the local Metropark.

Just in case anyone is interested, here is a link to my strava profile. It's set to private, but give me a follow and I'll follow you as well.

#4 was a brick of 2.0 Seemed like FOREVER to get to two miles!
#5 was a happy happy happy 9.77 at the local metro park in warmish weather. Every single runner on the path either waved or said hi. A first. I think we were all just so glad to be in the outdoors and OFF THE MILL! Legs felt surprising good considering the back to back vo2 and ftp rides.

Ah, swimming....about that.

#6 3 miles at the gym. In a skirt, with a bright sleeveless top.

The sun was shining into the gym and I was faking spring!

Trish - you're another Michigander, right?

I split time between Grand Rapids and the east side of the state. I often swim at Lifetime Commerce (and occasionally Lifetime Novi) when I am on the east side. If you ever need someone to push you to get in the water, let me know.

Same goes for you, Mike Woods.

Love this.  This time of year the sun is shining on my bike during spin class due to the orientation of the windows and my bike.  It's refreshing because I know summers coming!

You did start adding in more intensity recently. May be some PF flaring up, I believe that tendon runs right up the bottom of the foot, though usually you get the pain to start, then it fades, and it is especially worse in the morning, so who knows. Smart thing to do is have it looked at and give it a chance to recover. And I think it is fair for me to say that it is a bit surprising that you are doing the smart thing!!

I've had little nagging things going on since last year. Every time one ache starts to fade, another one pops up. Last fall it was the knee, then the ankle. For the past few weeks I've had some soreness/tightness in my left Achilles which give a bit of a "twang" every now and then, especially running uphill. That seems to be getting a bit better though, but now my right hamstring has a bit of tightness/soreness. I was really hoping I'd get to 100% at some point. Doesn't look like that's happening though. I'm starting to build mileage and putting a bit of intensity into my runs now. If it's too much to hope for being 100%, I'll hope for 95%.

I remember a 2 x 20 min at 99% FTP last year that I couldn't even get off the bike after. Nice job!

#838- 7 mi
#839- 10 mi trail. Probably my slowest pace run I can remember. Tough running. Ran on my local trails and they were in rough shape. Lots of ruts in the ice and snow and some very slick icy spots as well. There is a creek that I criss-cross a few times on the trail and with the thaw/refreeze and dropping of the water level it froze into a "U" shape where you skitter down on one side and then try to scrabble back up the other. Fun, but tough! A bunch of boy scout troops were out on the trails as well with toboggans that didn't do much to help the trail condition. But having them out there helped pass the time as I passed and observed some of their activities.
#840- 2 mi. Took my kids out for the day. Didn't have much running time.
#841- 8 mi
#842- 6.2 mi treadmill. Mixed it up a bit. Did a 2 mile warmup. Then I did 1 mile progressions. 1/4 mi at 7mph, 1/4 mi at 8 mph, 1/4 mi at 9 mph, 1/4 mi at 10 mph. Did that for 4 miles, then did a 0.2 mi cool down jog. Was a good workout, I think I'll keep it in the mix, maybe add a few more repeats.

Yes Brad! I'm moving this summer and Commerce will most likely be my go to LTF location. I love using the outdoor pool there when I need to do a more structured wo. I will hit you up for sure!
