# 7 is in the books. 3 on the tm at Fraser Bike.

Bought myself a kickr, and did my 2x15 ftp on it at the shop to make sure I could get it all hooked up and groovin' with trainer road. Those guys are so patient with me and my technology issues!

Hit the treadmill afterwards, then a couple hours later made it to my new Tuesday swim class. Legs are doing ok so far.

#41 - 3.0 miles of Intervals. It was a tough workout after a fatbike ride yesterday afternoon left my legs feeling like pudding.

mmmm pudding.

Ah, swimming....about that.

#6 3 miles at the gym. In a skirt, with a bright sleeveless top.

The sun was shining into the gym and I was faking spring!

Trish - you're another Michigander, right?

I split time between Grand Rapids and the east side of the state. I often swim at Lifetime Commerce (and occasionally Lifetime Novi) when I am on the east side. If you ever need someone to push you to get in the water, let me know.

Same goes for you, Mike Woods.

Thanks Brad! I live in the east side as does Trish. Swimming is not my thing, but if you're ever up for a bike ride while you're out here let me know!

Yes Brad! I'm moving this summer and Commerce will most likely be my go to LTF location. I love using the outdoor pool there when I need to do a more structured wo. I will hit you up for sure!
Sounds great. I prefer the outdoor Commerce pool whenever I can. I do swim at ILRA some, but I had some allergies that sometimes bother me after lake swims so I don't do it that frequently.

I bought a fat bike around Thanksgiving. Haven't gotten out on it as much as I would have liked. Where do you do most of your riding?

Tuesday - #562 - 4 miles of speed work intervals, then 1000m in the pool

I've been varying my speed work interval workouts by week lately. I always start with an easy mile warmup. Yesterday was 1/4 mile fast followed by a 1/4 mile easy, which I did for 3 miles. Next week I'll do 1/2 mile hard followed by 1/4 mile easy (again for 3 miles), and the following week I will do 3/4 mile hard and 1/4 mile easy for 3 miles. I reduce the treadmill speed by about .2 mph for each different workout. Definitely keeps out monotony. We'll see if this pays off this spring/summer/

#843 - 15.1 mi (15.6 if you count the abandoned trail "run")

I went out to the trails I'd been running on and they were not runnable without some mountaineering gear. It reminded me of that Tom and Jerry episode where they freeze everything in the house and skate around. I was averaging a 24:00 minute mile over a 1/2 mile and decided that running on the trails was not happening.

I drove to the other side of the park since I knew they had some paved sections that may have been passable, and they were, but there wasn't much to run on and I didn't feel like doing a dozen or so loops since I had planned on about 2 - 2.5 hours of running.

I had a very nice run in the end though. I left the park and ran down to the beach. Went out to the sand and ran along the wet sand where the waves were breaking for a few miles. I collected a few shells since I had the best selection being that I was the only one out there with an unrelenting wind blowing and the temps in the 20s. I rattled along with the shells clacking for about 10 miles of my run and managed not to break all of them! I ran down to a lighthouse and an old military fort then turned around and came back up along a multi use path that had some snow/ice, but was passable.

I had a bit of driving, but it was worth it. I've been treating myself about once a week or so getting off the treadmill and away from the same old routes. I work every other weekend which is a drag, but it gives me one weekday off. And with the kids in school I've managed to get some good running done on those mornings.

#8 6.26 miles on the mill in an hour. Felt really good and focused on form, firing of my lame arse glutes and lower core. Lots of work to do here I'm afraid.

Mike, love me some Dory! I have only done one 8am run this year. Last year was a bust for me due to some surgery recovery and the wicked cold. We've been running a bit as a group at Lifetime and grabbing eats afterwards. If we regroup and head out, I'll let you know! I know I won't be this weekend no matter the weather. I'm riding at the lab at 7am Saturday and will want to sleep in some come Sunday.

I just got mine a few weeks ago. Most of my rides have been on the lake behind my house. That's been pretty neat. I've only been on mountain bike trails twice, and I can honestly say that both times I'd wished I was on my XC skis. That said, Bald Mountain South in Lake Orion was in really great shape on Tuesday. The DNR guy groomed the trails with a snowmobile and the conditions were as good or better than any time I've ever ridden it in the summer.

I am going to try to get out to Island Lake this weekend at some point this weekend as I hear the trails are in good shape there too.

I'll send you a PM with my phone number. Let me know if you want to join at some point.

Wednesday - #563 - 2.25 miles and then a pretty tough 65 minutes on the trainer

I bailed out of this easy run at 2.25 when I was planning on going 4. It was just one of those days where I wasn't feeling it at all. It was supposed to be an easy treadmill run, but I was sweating more than usual, HR was elevated higher than it should have been for the pace, and I felt like my form was all over the place. I was afraid it was going to kill me on the bike, but for some reason I got through that relatively easily.

#9 3 miles at LTF on the mill
#10 3.2 miles at LTF on the mill
#11 2.25 miles on the mill at Fraser, brick off of a ftp ride. Last week those same 20' about killed me. This week, everything was honky dory!

And due to our lovely weather tomorrow, I'll be putting in 1:45:00 on the mill at LTF. Ugh!

Happy Valentines day all!

#12 11 miles on the mill today at LTF. Drank my recovery drink, got changed and put my legs up for 5' before a restorative yoga class. Next Sunday is 2 hours. Hope I can do it outdoors!

Happy Sunday all!

#13 2 miles after a run mechanics class with lots of pistol squats. Got some video taken and awaiting critique!
#14 2.5 miles out doors today after a kick butt 2x18' FTP bike. I crush it, and the run felt fine. Probably took me longer to get layered up to run outside than the run lol.

Now to not cramp during swim tonight!

HALF WAY to my 28 day challenge! Thanks for the mojo guys!

It was hard to drag myself out of the house yesterday until I realized what day it was. I'm proud of a year, though there are more 1 mile days that I would like, but I'm more proud of the almost $900 for cancere that I've raised through Charity Miles, donations, and race entries. I've decided I'm not stopping at $1000 (which is a pretty paltry sum, to be honest). I'll take a day off when cancer does. Thanks to the support and inspiration I get from all you here.

I'm very curious where you take your run mechanics class? I could use some targeted help, I think.

Tuesday - #569 - 3.6 miles. I was doing speed work but upped my intensity level and my recovery level both by .1mph and it was just a little too much. Died out during my very last interval, so I didn't make it to 4 miles. Then I went and swam a fairly worthless 1500y, and then home to an easy hour on the bike.

I go to a gym in Detroit...Detroit Tough in the Corktown area. The gal that teaches it is a 16 time IM, retired pro. She's great. Watchful eyes, and all the exercises for the core and small support muscles we tend to ignore as triathletes, especially while doing higher volume. I only wish I'd started earlier in the off season than this January. I know a lot of people have the motivation to do this stuff on their own (none of it is crazy off the wall stuff) but I need the group and the challenge to do more than I would on my own.
