Tuesday - #590 - 2 more not very easy miles at a very slow pace. This flu is shifting symptoms, and now my whole body is essentially agitated to the touch. I do think I am recovering but have a ways to go yet. A little fear that I may develop bronchitis out of this, too.

There's my good news. Now I am off to a viewing, unfortunately. I'm just a ray of sunshine huh?

Hope you are feeling better. For the past week, I've felt fine, but I keep psyching myself out that I am getting sick. My wife just got over being sick for a week, and I was just waiting for it to hit me. I would lie in bed thinking that I was more fatigued than usual, or that I was getting stuffy, and it would hit me full on by morning, but alas, all is well. 5.5 weeks to race day and I always get paranoid about getting sick in the home stretch.

#870- 8 mi

#871- 16 hard-fought trail miles.

Took me 3 hours. Slush, mud, snow, and some really slick spots kept me on my toes and then some. At times I felt like a truck stuck in the mud, the wheels were spinning but I was getting nowhere. My feet were soaked in the first 3 minutes, but I did have a few sections of terra firma, which after the last month or two was pretty sweet. Really looking forward to things thawing a bit more and drying up.

You'll tough through it, then later this year reminisce about how you streaked through a bad flu/cold early in the year. Sucks now though. Sorry.

#872- 10.2 trail miles. Same snow/slush/mud, different set of trails. The small creek I sometimes run through (usually ankle to shin deep) was raging along today and I wasn't ready to go "all in" and wade though, I may have gone knee, or even mid-thigh, but no higher!

I wasn't planning on trail running today, but I got out of work early, and I had a new pair of trail shoes show up at my door yesterday (Happy Birthday me!), so what was I supposed to do??? I got a pair of Salomon Speedcross 3's and I definitely got some good use from them today. Great traction, and they drained well (very wet today), I want to get a few more runs in them, but so far they are awesome.

26.2 miles on the trails in the last two days. I think I was supposed to be training for Boston... Who knows maybe all the trail running will help my road running.

Yep, that's my motivation. Seems like I'm on the upswing. I was able to run 3 miles today. Did kind of a progression run, increasing speed every half mile. The last .5 miles of my run (which was the fastest) ended up being at the pace I normally run for warmups or easy runs.

Thursday - #592 - 3 miles

Day 23, 3 miles. The PF is still bothering me but I am still trying to run through it. I managed 26 miles last week and hope to top 30 this week. Slowly but surely it is coming along, some good days and some bad with it.

Lungs are still a mess. Feel like I'm at 50% capacity at best when I run. Hoping for slight improvement each day.

Monday - #596 - 4 miles, lungs felt a little bit better today. Ran on the treadmill at what is normally my "easy" pace, and while it wasn't easy, it wasn't as difficult as the past few days. Then I had a trainer road session at home with 3x6min efforts at 105% FTP, and I hacked through that a little.

#873- 12 mi treadmill
#874- 8 mi
#875- 2 mi recovery. Knee was pretty stiff.

Once I counted up my weekly miles I realized I ended at 69.3. I really should have gone the extra 0.7 mi for an even 70. Didn't know it at the time or I would have.

#876- 10 mi treadmill progression. Last 4 miles just under marathon goal pace. Recovery day helped alot.
#877- 10.5 mi - started out really nice out, but the wind picked up quite a bit and the clouds rolled in. Ended up doing another progression run. I want to get more race pace running in since these next two weeks are really my peak training weeks. Again I picked it up for the last 4 miles, and the last half mile I was cruising at a 6:20 min/mi pace and felt good. Knee is sore still (always) and right hamstring a bit tight (just a bit).

6.01 miles ...longest run i've done since doing this challenge. i bought a new pair of minimalist shoes and just really made a difference tonight for me. i'm done with regular running shoes, everyone's different, but these just help me feel most comfortable running.

Tuesday - #597 - 4 miles, then a pretty worthless swim
Wednesday - #598 - 4 miles, then 90 minutes on the trainer
Thursday - #599 - 2 miles, and then a slightly better swim
Friday - #600 - 2 miles

Thursday and Friday are a bit of a break for me. I always take the first two days of the NCAA basketball tournament off to watch all the games. Ends up with lots of couch time, too many soft drinks, too many beers, and too much food.

Day 30, 3 miles. The PF has been manageable the last couple of weeks. I have started to pick up the pace a little and this week I will push the mileage a bit as well. I just wish it would go away but wishing never gets it done so I will keep treating it and pressing on.
